Overview of last month’s minutes:

Service Members Reports:

Chair: Dear Seattle Area Service Committee, You may recall that last month I read a new preamble to explain the difference between Groups who are “present” and Groups who are “represented”. Based on some feedback, here is a slightly revised version: SASC experimental agenda supplement Participation in this SASC is open to any NA member. Any member of NA may make a motion or participate in discussion. Voting privileges in this SASC are limited to group service representatives (GSRs). This committee has no say in who each group choses as their GSR. It is possible that two or more groups have chosen the same person to be their GSR. In this case, that GSR may vote only once, even though they are representing more than one group. They must choose which group they are voting on behalf of. SASC Service Members are those members such as me who have been elected by this body as trusted servants of this body. SASC Service Members may not simultaneously serve as GSRs. Therefore, we may not vote. We will now conduct our roll call of groups. If you are a GSR, when you hear the group name called out for the group you are voting for, please say “present and voting” or “present” or simply “here”. If you are a GSR representing a group but will not be voting on behalf of that group, when you hear that group name called out, please say “represented”. I appreciate receiving any feedback that members may have on this matter. I remind you that as previously announce your SASC admin committee which includes your Treasurer has unanimously decided to change the way that we account for our Storage Unit. Going forward the monthly cost of the storage unit will be split 4 ways between SINAC, SASC Activities, SASC Unity Day and SASC Admin. We find that this is not a guideline change and we have the authority to take this action. If any member disagrees, please raise your concern prior to the next admin meeting. I remind you that our next meeting is at 1pm on the First Sunday of January which is January 6, 2019. New GSR orientation and meeting setup begins 30 minutes earlier. Our new meeting location is in a church building at 1111 Harvard Ave in the Seattle First Hill neighborhood. Our next Admin Committee meeting will be held via web conferencing on Jan 2, 2019 at 7pm. Naomi will send out the meeting url via email In Loving Service … Mike L.

Vice Chair: Hello, Just a reminder that next month’s Area meeting will be held at the Seattle First Baptist Church at 1111 Harvard Ave Seattle WA 98122. The parking lot behind the church is free to park Sunday and the street parking is also free. We will use the back entrance off the alley adjacent to the parking lot. I am unable to attend Area this month due to unforeseen travel this weekend. I will see you all at our new location. ILS, Naomi L Recording Secretary: Nothing to Report Assistant Recording Secretary: Nothing to Report Treasurer: (See appendix C for full report) 1. The bank statements and ledger balances matched this month. 2. The issue with the check from September for $41.89 was finally resolved and credited back to our account. 3. Bing, Kendra and I meet to discuss PR’s budget. Kendra was able to order more literature and they have used the extra $2500 from excess funds that was approved for them to use in October. 4. I did not set aside the money for PR to use for a booth at Pride voted on last quarter. I will take that out of excess funds this month and then write the check and send the remaining balance to Region today. 5. I spoke to Gary today and he cleared up the invoice from NRSCO that I brought up last area in the amount of $719.88. 6. Literature’s deposit had a discrepancy of negative $9.01. Gary made a copy of the notice from the bank for his records. 7. I will be out of the country most December and half of January and will miss Area and the Admin meeting. I will have very limited access to email and texting. On a personal note I will be meeting my husband’s family in Malaysia and fulfilling a lifetime dream of visiting Australia. Dreams really do come true in recovery and I am full of gratitude for this opportunity. 8. I will now read the financial statement for November 2018. I have emailed the statement out to the recording secretary, chair and vice chair for distribution with the minutes.

Assistant Treasurer: Nothing to Report Activities Chair: We spent the entire month of November preparing for the annual Gratitude Dinner. Thanks to some 11th hour cooked meat donations and smaller than expected attendance, we ended up with plenty of food, with plenty of take-home meals provided, and some food donated to homeless outreach. I especially want to thank those non-committee members who contributed so significantly to this events success: Gordon, Ed, Matt, Ryan, Beau and others. Our next event is the NYE dance at first baptist, same location area is moving to. Our committee meeting today, and the one in two weeks will be dedicated towards putting this event on. Please join us if you can help...we'll need help with decorations, cleanup, and holding items overnight->returning them to storage the next day. This is a GREAT time to get involved with the Activities committee, after new year's we'll be looking at the coming year with new freedom for new events, and have a new campout to plan. Thank you for allowing me to be of service. Activities Treasurer: No report submitted Literature: Hello all, Last month we sold $1201.45. Our order was $1194.79. In service, Gary Regional Committee Member (RCM 1): Hi all, Not a whole lot to report today. I am going to submit an open discussion today on the issue discussion topic about medication assisted treatment/ drug replacement therapy. This is a subject that some people have very strong options about, so I encourage you to be open-minded and compassionate. I ask that you don't respond to what has already been said, and

instead just voice your own thoughts. The world board has asked for input on this topic from the fellowship, to use when writing the new literature on the topic, so I will be sending notes from the discussion off to them. On a personal note, I have 4 years clean today. Service has been a pillar of recovery for me, so thank you all for being a part of my recovery. I may not always be super excited to come here, but I've been coming for about 3 and a half years straight, so I guess I must be getting something out of it! Much love to you all, Dani Regional Committee Member 2 (RCM 2): I have a whole lot of nothing to report this month.

SINAC Liaison: Hello all, I have fliers for needed positions and dates for our next two meetings. Starter meeting will be 12/16 and Januarys meeting will be the 20th. Thanks for allowing me to be of service Mario PR Chair: Hello Everyone First and foremost let’s welcome Ashley L our new H&I Chair, Aubrey our new H&I Vice Chair, Kendra J H&I/PR Literature Chair and Matt J H&I Secretary. H&I Literature I know Ashley L created an amazing google document form for all the panel leaders to fill out so it can be super practical for everyone. It’s been quite challenging but the literature is finally coming in for the panel leaders of H&I. I know it’s a tremendous hard job getting it all together for the H&I literature chair. Kendra has done an amazing job getting it streamlined to track all literature coming in and going out. Going forward we believe that we will need a Vice Literature Chair. Since it’s a very busy service commitment. New Location for H&I monthly Service Meeting: Starting Jan 6th at 10am we will start meeting at Groove City Grind Coffee Shop 3100 Airport Way S, Seattle WA. There have been flyers made and we would appreciate if this was announced in your Home group. PR: We met with Hotel California By The Sea and they are now ordering Narcotics Anonymous literature to have in there facility. They purchased their own rack and IP’s and some Basic Text. Going forward we will meet with other Treatment Centers and do a PR presentation to let them know how they can help by purchasing Narcotics Anonymous literature to place in their facilities . Last but least we finally have a meeting starting at the Seattle Indian Center, starting this coming Thursday December 6th at 7pm. Sincerely Bing B Public Relations Chair for the Seattle Area of Narcotics Anonymous Unity Day Chair: No report submitted Unity Day Treasurer: No report submitted
