On behalf of all the staff here at WVOC, we want to wish you a joyous and relaxing holiday season.

We all know the value of Dressing for Success. The rule of thumb is to dress for the job you want, not

the one you have. Well, our Job Club understands this. That’s why they’ve created the “Career Closet”. Starting in January, the Job Club will

offer business suits, formal women’s wear and basic interview attire. Students will have access to interview-ready clean/pressed clothing. The inventory has been provided graciously by

WVOC faculty and staff. This is just another example of the WVOC Job Club providing meaningful opportunity for our students.

And Now, A Word from Our Sponsor...

Starting December 24th, WVOC English and Spanish commercial spots will be seen by viewers of Spectrum Cable, AT&T U-verse TV and online video streaming. Many of our beloved students, staff and instructors are featured, so be sure to watch for it at a television or computer near you!

Message From DACE

Don’t forget to study over the break! WVOC and all of LAUSD will take a three week winter break starting this Friday . We’ll all return on Monday, January 7th. Stay safe and don’t forget to study! Keep up on your education.

WVOC wishes Ruby Sanchez the best of luck on her future endeavors. She will be missed dearly, especially in the counseling office. Ruby has been part of the WVOC family since 2012 and has been instrumental in the school’s registration procedures, helping students identify educational goals and other clerical duties. Her last day at WVOC is Friday, Dec. 14th. Ruby will join the Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences High School as the new School Administrative Assistant, starting January 7, 2019. We are definitely proud of her accomplishments!

Marina Velasco just completed her court test. She is now an official American Citizen. Marina is a student in Ms. Brana West’s Citizenship class. Congratulations Marina on your new life as a United States Citizen!

Very little is certain about what happens when we all come back from Winter Break. What is certain is that LAUSD and UTLA are still at the table negotiating in good faith. WVOC Administration wants to ensure that students have the opportunity to continue their educational path, undeterred. In that interest, all teachers should always keep in mind just what they are here for: students. If a strike is called, it will be the first in 30 years. If it happens, teachers will maintain civility and stay focused on their shared goal of educating students. This matter will be resolved in good faith and hopefully in a short time. WVOC has every intention of staying open regardless. Students will still be allowed to register for CTE classes in the designated offices. Beyond registration, students may choose their path according to their own beliefs. In any event, everyone should maintain civility and decorum. Thank you all.
