Our keyword search provides a function that can help you start gathering intelligence with a single word or phrase. To use this feature, select the “By Keyword” tab at the top of the page. • You can then type in a keyword, multiple related keywords, or even full phrases into the

search bar. This will collect and display all relevant ads within our database. • When searching multiple words, only phrases in quotation marks will be searched for in order

– for example, “Diet Pill” will search for the phrase “diet pill”. Typing multiple words without quotation marks will search for ads that relate to both of those words, but not necessarily in order.

• WhatRunsWhere scans ad copy, URL text and landing page copy to find ads relevant to your keywords.

• Searching, “diet” for example, will show keywords that have the word “diet” throughout the ad copy, URL, and landing page text.

• To change the scope and depth of the search results, click the orange change text, which will allow you to change the networks, countries and time span of the displayed results.

• The results will be sorted further by relevancy, which lists in order the top performing ads pertaining to your search. The Most recent ads that are related to your search can be found by selecting that parameter.

• Looking over these top performing ads can give you valuable insight into what advertisers are finding lucrative in that niche. You can spot trends between ads for a niche, and build on successful designs.

• If most ads use a similar call to action, image, or theme, you may want to think about testing something similar within your own campaigns. Isolating common phrases or predominant words in top performing text ads can also help you understand what is producing results for your competitors

• Clicking on an ad will pull up stats about that ad, much like the advertiser search feature. This profile includes where the ad has been seen, the advertiser, and other important info. By clicking on ads that interest you, you can easily compile a comprehensive profile of sites you may want to advertise on. You can then use this info to build new, or supplement existing display campaigns.

• This information can be used in a manner that is very similar to the advertiser search feature. You can quickly identify the common placements, content and themes that are proving lucrative for that key word or phrase. This will allow you to better understand where to place your ads, how to build your own successful creatives and other key insights. Using content that has been already tested and proven to perform- you can minimize campaign risk and maximize you or your client’s ROI.
