Captain Marion Comments

The rains keep coming and the wind has a tendency to blow very hard on Tuesday and Thursday. However, there are always some hardy souls to be seen around the course. Fingers crossed the weather will have blown itself out before our major events.

The Club Medal #4 which was washed out will be played on 9 August and the Mirla Bancroft Par event will be played on 2 August.

See you around the greens.

Around the Fairways and

Greens

ON THE GREEN In the event that your ball is in another player's line, it is important to mark your ball's position, and only then remove it (pick it up) from the green. Replace on the exact spot. A second but related concern involves the hole itself. A golfer should avoid stepping within at least a one-foot radius of the hole. On the putting green, you may repair ball marks and old hole plugs, but not any other damage, such as spike marks (Rule 16-1).

Players should not stand on another player’s line of putt or, when he is making a stroke, cast a shadow over his line of putt.

Players should remain on or close to the putting green until all other players in the group have holed out.

IN A BUNKER

If ball is lodged against a rake and moves when removing the rake, play it from where it stops.

Until January 2019, do not remove any bits and pieces from a bunker, as you will be penalised.

Good publicity for Sea View with a photo in GolfWA report on International Women’s Golf Day Maggie Shea scored an amazing “Drain in One” when teeing off the 8th. The ball bounced out of bounds, bobbed down the road and the amazement of the viewers dribble itself into the drain on Pearse Street. Others to achieve outstanding feats but this time with the putter were Bernadette Fee, Sarah Wells, Bette Rees-Oakes and Jane Swan.

Welcome back to Stella Wright who had a wonderful trip, but also had a brief trip to check out the private health system in England. Eleanore Fuchter was playing some very nice golf before she headed off on her Europe/South American trip. Karen Hodson enjoyed the warm weather in England but “relishing” the wind and rain challenge. Sarah Wells enjoying some warmer weather in Karratha while she has cuddles with the grandchildren. Joan Knowles back from her big adventure which took her here there and everywhere in Europe including a detour to see grandchildren in Norway.
