President’s Message
SDANG News
November 2019
Educating and Inspiring the Art
of Needlework
Chapter Meeting Time:
Second Tuesday of the month at
7PM.
Meeting Location:
Our Mother of Confidence Church
Hello Stitchers,
I have had a horrible month, computer wise. I couldn’t retrieve my PDFs and took my computer to the Geek-Squad who
diagnosed a dying hard-drive. It was replaced for a minimal amount but they didn’t bother to tell me that all of my word
documents would be erased in the process. I am heartbroken as I had many saved documents that I refer to often. So I
begin again, starting from scratch.
I am coming to the end of my 4 years as President and want to thank all of the members who have made this time so
enjoyable. I couldn’t have done the job without your help and support. We are preparing for our end-of-the-year
holiday celebration and I was asked to make a short speech about what I have done during the past 4 years. Ha, Ha,
without my word documents to refer to I have no idea what I have done, so my speech will be very short!! I will remain
on with the chapter as the Donations chair, accepting all donations given to us and directing the items to worthy homes.
My first project with the donations is as follows: We have been given a great deal of canvases, some including the stitch
guides and threads, some started with minimal stitching, some not started at all. I have decided to bring 5 or 6 of these
canvases to chapter meetings and hold a raffle with every members name, including out out-of-towners. Those who
don’t want to be included in the raffle can let me know but otherwise, every member is a possible winner. If you get a
piece you don’t like you can pass it along to another stitcher. The object is to move the donations along to good homes
and I hope you will all like whatever you get.
I am looking forward to being a “regular” chapter member with everyone. Thank you again.
Keep Stitching ,
Lee Ryan

Programs
This month’s program is a practical
application built on the Color
Theory lecture by Sharon Meng.
We will use the Ort Box and Ort
Box with a Twist by Marilyn Owen
to apply what we learned last
month. Sharon will also
demonstrate the reverse blackwork
technique.
If you haven't already done so, I
highly encourage you to review the
taped Color Theory lecture or go to
the websites recommended by
Sharon. As an added bonus to
members who make the meeting,
you will get a piece of interlock
weave for ort project and a mini
color wheel!
Be sure to bring lots of your
favorite threads to practice your
color design.
Shirley

We are the San Diego chapter of the
American Needlepoint Guild. We meet
monthly to share our love of stitching
and welcome all who share our
passion, from beginners to needlepoint designers. You may
work on the current program or bring your own stitching
project to work on during the meeting. We also offer
workshops with nationally known designers and open
stitching opportunities (unstructured hours of stitching and
great conversation with like minded people)! We hope you
will join us.
