About, c tkia Since 2008, Scythia have charged forward playing epic progressive metal with a twist of folklore, coining their own sound while drawing from different genres. Scythia's album, tracks, and performances features rich, poetic storytelling, and epic tales that captures the imagination of all who are privy to its lyrical themes and melodies. Because of this, and touring like a cavalry of nomads, they have taken the independent scene by storm as they gather more and more fans both domestically and internationally.

Scythia acquired its name from vocalist/guitarist Dave Khan's infatuation with a painting of Nordic/Russian warriors riding bears while brandishing swords. Scythia not only gives the painting musical significance, but it is also the name of an ancient empire spanning from the Caucasus through Russia, and even into eastern Scandinavia. Since their inception, Scythia has kept an eye on the future by constantly growing and increasing their impressive discography.

Scythia delivered their first album "Of War" in 2010 where the band's distinctive sound was forged, which carried on to their next release "Of Exile" in 2011. Scythia followed their sophomore album with several tours across their native Canada. "Of Exile" topped the Canadian Na tiona; LOUD charts (radio) in October 2011 at number #1 and finished the year as #7. Their third release, "For The Bear" earned the band further recognition and they were nominated for SiriusXM's "Best Metal Act/Duo" alongside Canadian Heavyweight, Devin Townsend. In early 2014, Scythia released their 4th album "Of Conquest". This record was produced in Germany by Lasse Lammert (Gloryhammer, Alestorm, Svartsot), mixed by Nino Laurenne (Ensiferum, Wintersun„ Firewind and Elvenking) and mastered by Svante Forsback (Korpiklaani, Turisas, Rammstein). With solid songwriting and state of the art production, this album received sensational reviews and garnered further attention for Scythia both domestically and abroad. The video for their first single, "Bear Claw Tavern" was premiered in Guitar World Magazine and has received over 100,000 views on VouTube.

The band intends to keep the momentum rolling. In 2014, Scythia ventured into the USA on their 8th tour and won over American audiences. Since then, they have been invited to co-headline a festival in Sao Paolo, Brazil with Swedish folk metal masters, Manegarm. Additionally, they will appear as co-headliners on the Florida Metal showcase and will be making an appearance for several shows in the Southeastern US in Spring 2015."

It seems like nothing is stopping Scythia's growth. Backed by dedicated fans and metal radio stations across the globe, Scythia is soon to become a household name in metal.

"Just a few weeks into 2014 and we already have an album that's sure to reach some Top 10 lists by year's end. ...Of Conquest is simply spectacular." - Pittsburgh Music Magazine This track (Reflections) is a "one-of-a-kind track" on the record," slates guitarist and lead vocalist David Khan.

'Relied:ions' pays tribute to the progressive styles of the early sus, with a good dose of powerful modem riffs. Actually, come to think of it... this song has a lot of gems and they are all rolled into a track that docks in at less than 5 minutes" - Decibel magazine

I can say that Scythia's ...Of conquest is a very welcome surprise, an album that is loaded with killer musicianship, catchy metal songs, and most importantly, it's just so damn fun to listen to."

" I adore this album, sometimes a melodic folk band just does not get it right and I was half and half before I started listening to this After I got about half way through on my first listen I knew this was something special. Now after having jammed it for a month, I can clearly say it holds up and it still retains it's ambitious charm! This is a must have for you metal heads. - Headbang of GTFO, -(45/51

Scythia "For The Bear" "This is Scythia in 2012 with a fun, upbeat album where you won't have time to catch your breath in between the stones, the shouts, the oboe of death trills, the heavy riffing or the vigorous beats."

- MetalTilans.com

"This is an interesting release - its meta live album, but it's certainly got that live feel to it, SO it's half way between a full-blown folk-metal studio album and a live album." - Planetmosh.com 03/10)-

Scythia - "...Of Exile" "Scythia craft an epic storytelling album....The classic sound and epic subject matter make this one wholly different from any other Metal album you're likely to listen to this year".

- Confront Magazine -(9/10/

"While folk metal may not have a very broad appeal, Scythia should be numbered among the leaders of the genre and deserve to be recognized. The band is definitely talented and very capable, and they deliver their unique sound with passion, enthusiasm and a great sense of drama and fun...."

"Scythia fall perfectly into the Power/ Folk realm and they do it well. One of the highlights for people is the inclusion of an Oboe into the bands sound. The compositions are interesting, great gang vocals, just the right amount of speed and melody. There are the heavier cuts like, 'Spirit Of The Quest' and 'Voice Of The Sword' a few mellower bridge pieces and a fun drinking song (with amusing intro narration) to round out the album called +lobarltes Inn'. The narration is excellent it helps the story and adds atmosphere. "

"For The Bear" Release Date: September 25th, 2012

This seven-track EP, steps away from the elegant orchestration and central concept of its predecessors and has a faster, more aggressive pace that demonstrates a more mature, refined and tight band. Their bass lines are heavier than lead, the guitars riffs slice like a broadsword, the drums are fast, hard, and crystal clear, and vocals can squash the largest of battlegrounds. Looks like Scythia is ready for battle, and continues to bring great, face - melting power/folk metal.

"Scythia transcends tradition and pure genre here. It's so recognizable as to be in the comfort zone but the band

manage to mix it up, and in doing so generate excitement, motion and enjoyment The key musical and artistic point for me here in this fiery, theatrical and at times thoughtful folk metal fest is the boundless creativity. I therefore prEwose a

toast for the bear!" For The Bear - AveNocium.corn

Scythia is back with their sophomore release "...Of Exile." They have successfully created movie score metal and once again pleased their fans with their combination of epic metal and original folklore. Dave Khan offers heavy guitar riffs that weave through the music, and Celine Dental guns away with her impressive staccato double-kick bass drums. Terry Savages' bass lines drive us right to Khan's unique vocal range, ranging from dark and heavy to glass-shattering tenor heights.

"What actually caught my attention in their music is that does not belong to the traditional folk Metal genre. On the contrary, you can find dear progressive elements (music

wise) in their songs, and more epic I Power Metal finishing touches. The unique sound of the oboe fits perfectly to the

music without being on the spotlight but just playing its (role pretty well." www.MetaiKaozpcorn

"...Of War" Release Date: October 5th, 2010

Everything about this debut record oozes promise. Scythia's `Of War', showcases the band's ability to blend technical proficiency with savage and brutal, groove/folk-based metal, which has not disappointed the metal masse. From their track "The Black Death" to the final orchestral notes of "Epilogue" this record is littered with amazing songs. Scythia masterfully intertwine heavy guitar riffs, minstrel-like vocals, and a pounding rhythm section while keeping their sound unique and fresh, constantly expanding among the stagnant world of their peers.

"Tracks like "The Black Death" and "Wanior's Anthem" serve as vast soundscapes versus standard metal tunes,

that firmly place Scythia as a band of gypsy minstrels in this renaissance period of swashbuckling tales of swordplay."
