StatusBar

Thestatusbarisdisplayedatthebottomofthe<<YourApp>>window.Todisplayorhidethestatusbar,usetheStatusBarcommandintheViewmenu.

Theleftareaofthestatusbardescribesactionsofmenuitemsasyouusethearrowkeystonavigatethroughmenus.Thisareasimilarlyshowsmessagesthatdescribetheactionsoftoolbarbuttonsasyoupressthem,beforereleasingthem.Ifafterviewingthedescriptionofthetoolbarbuttoncommandyouwishnottoexecutethecommand,thenreleasethemousebuttonwhilethepointerisoffthetoolbarbutton.

Opencommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtoopenanexistingdocumentinanewwindow.Youcanopenmultipledocumentsatonce.UsetheWindowmenutoswitchamongthemultipleopendocuments.SeeWindow1,2,...command.

YoucancreatenewdocumentswiththeNewcommand.

Closecommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtocloseallwindowscontainingtheactivedocument.<<YourApp>>suggeststhatyousavechangestoyourdocumentbeforeyoucloseit.Ifyoucloseadocumentwithoutsaving,youloseallchangesmadesincethelasttimeyousavedit.Beforeclosinganuntitleddocument,<<YourApp>>displaystheSaveAsdialogboxandsuggeststhatyounameandsavethedocument.

Savecommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtosavetheactivedocumenttoitscurrentnameanddirectory.Whenyousaveadocumentforthefirsttime,<<YourApp>>displaystheSaveAsdialogboxsoyoucannameyourdocument.Ifyouwanttochangethenameanddirectoryofanexistingdocumentbeforeyousaveit,choosetheSaveAscommand.

SaveAscommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtosaveandnametheactivedocument.<<YourApp>>displaystheSaveAsdialogboxsoyoucannameyourdocument.

Tosaveadocumentwithitsexistingnameanddirectory,usetheSavecommand.

Printcommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtoprintadocument.ThiscommandpresentsaPrintdialogbox,whereyoumayspecifytherangeofpagestobeprinted,thenumberofcopies,thedestinationprinter,andotherprintersetupoptions.

PrintPreviewcommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtodisplaytheactivedocumentasitwouldappearwhenprinted.Whenyouchoosethiscommand,themainwindowwillbereplacedwithaprintpreviewwindowinwhichoneortwopageswillbedisplayedintheirprintedformat.Theprintpreviewtoolbaroffersyouoptionstovieweitheroneortwopagesatatime;movebackandforththroughthedocument;zoominandoutofpages;andinitiateaprintjob.

PrintSetupcommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtoselectaprinterandaprinterconnection.ThiscommandpresentsaPrintSetupdialogbox,whereyouspecifytheprinteranditsconnection.

Exitcommand(Filemenu)

Usethiscommandtoendyour<<YourApp>>session.YoucanalsousetheClosecommandontheapplicationControlmenu.<<YourApp>>promptsyoutosavedocumentswithunsavedchanges.

Undo/Can'tUndocommand(Editmenu)

Cutcommand(Editmenu)

Usethiscommandtoremovethecurrentlyselecteddatafromthedocumentandputitontheclipboard.Thiscommandisunavailableifthereisnodatacurrentlyselected.

Cuttingdatatotheclipboardreplacesthecontentspreviouslystoredthere.

Copycommand(Editmenu)

Usethiscommandtocopyselecteddataontotheclipboard.Thiscommandisunavailableifthereisnodatacurrentlyselected.

Copyingdatatotheclipboardreplacesthecontentspreviouslystoredthere.

Pastecommand(Editmenu)

Usethiscommandtoinsertacopyoftheclipboardcontentsattheinsertionpoint.Thiscommandisunavailableiftheclipboardisempty.

Toolbarcommand(Viewmenu)

Usethiscommandtodisplayandhidethetoolbar,whichincludesbuttonsforsomeofthemostcommoncommandsin<<YourApp>>,suchasFileOpen.Acheckmarkappearsnexttothemenuitemwhenthetoolbarisdisplayed.

Usethiscommandtoopenanewwindowwiththesamecontentsastheactivewindow.Youcanopenmultipledocumentwindowstodisplaydifferentpartsorviewsofadocumentatthesametime.Ifyouchangethecontentsinonewindow,allotherwindowscontainingthesamedocumentreflectthosechanges.Whenyouopenanewwindow,itbecomestheactivewindowandisdisplayedontopofallotheropenwindows.

Usethiscommandtoarrangemultipleopenedwindowsinanoverlappedfashion.

WindowArrangeIconsCommand

Usethiscommandtoarrangetheiconsforminimizedwindowsatthebottomofthemainwindow.Ifthereisanopendocumentwindowatthebottomofthemainwindow,thensomeoralloftheiconsmaynotbevisiblebecausetheywillbeunderneaththisdocumentwindow.

Specifiestheprinteryouwanttouse.Choosethedefaultprinter,orchoosetheSpecificPrinteroptionandselectoneofthecurrentinstalledprintersshowninthebox.YouinstallprintersandconfigureportsusingControlPanel.

Orientation

SpecifiesPortraitorLandscape.

PaperSize

Specifiesthesizeofpaperthatthedocumentistobeprintedon.
