Abstract
Objectives: Screening for thyroid disorder in pregnancy and its impact on maternal
and perinatal outcome.
Meth!s: This is a prospective study, with the study group comprising 510 pregnant
women where fasting serum sample collected for serum THYR!" ST!#$%&T!'(
HR#') estimation ,at first antenatal visit. *hen serum TSH value a+normal
freeT, free T- estimation was done. Ris factors were analysed. /atients were
followed till delivery.
Res"#ts: !n the study group incidence of hyperthyroidism is 0., incidence of overt
hypothyroidism is 1.-, incidence of su+clinical hypothyroidism is -.. *omen
with ris factors have less incidence of thyroid a+normality. &de2uately treated
thyroid a+normal women were good maternal and perinatal outcome.
C$c#"si$: !ncidence of thyroid disorders in our study population is high compared
to other study .women without ris factors have more incidence of thyroid disorders.
These indicates all pregnant women should undergone screening for thyroid disorder
at first +ooing antenatal visit +ased on serum TSH.
