Brief HistoryRace was started in 2011 as a fundraiser for Mercy Project

Growing demand:

•2011 – 1,731 registered runners

•2012 – 3,380 registered runners

•2013 – 4,165 registered runners

Brief History2012: added a kid’s marathon the day before the big race that

has involved more than 1,000 young people

$370,000 for Bryan/College Station based children’s charities

2013 HighlightsAfter this year’s race, we surveyed our runners to get a better

idea of what they thought about the race and what kind of real dollars they were spending on race weekend. The results were startling.

2013 HighlightsResponse rate of more than 30%. Those runners told us:

• 92% – organization of the race was excellent

• 81% – value of the race was excellent

• 70% – plan to return next year

2013 HighlightsSignificant economic impact on the BCS community:

• Runners from four countries (Belgium, Canada, Mexico, US)

• 40 states represented across America

• More than 70% reside outside of Bryan/College Station.

2013 Highlights• More than 40% stayed in local hotel rooms (1500+ rooms)

• $230 average per runner spent in BCS during race weekend (hotels, restaurants, gas, retail, etc.)

• With 3,000+ race finishers, $713,000 spent in BCS

• Add money given to local charities and what is spent locally to produce the race: economic impact of over $1,000,000.
