SCOPE and International Labour Organization (ILO) jointly organized the SCOPE International HR Summit 2016 on the theme “Reinventing HR: Breaking the Mould

Globally” on 4th-5th February, 2016 at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi.

Mr. K.V. Chowdary, Central Vigilance Commissioner, inaugurated the Summit and released the Special Issue of Kaleidoscope journal on HR. Mr. Ameising Luikham, IAS, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises delivered the Keynote Address. Mr. R.G. Rajan, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, RCF, Dr. U.D. Choubey, DG, SCOPE, Ms. Veena Swaroop, Director (HR), EIL, Dr. Sher Verick, Senior Economist, ILO South Asia, and Dr. Phyllida Travis, Director, Department of Health Systems Development, WHO, Regional Office for South-East Asia addressed the inaugural session.

SCOPE organized the 13th Program on Corporate Governance under the aegis of Department of Public Enterprises (DPE)

on 18th February, 2016 at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi. The theme of the Program was “Effective Boards for Sustainable Competitiveness with focus on Independent Directors”.

Mr. A. Luikham, IAS, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises inaugurated the Programme while Mr. R.G. Rajan, Chairman, SCOPE & CMD, RCF Ltd delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE delivered the Welcome Address while the Program Perspectives were shared by Prof. YRK Reddy, Lead Resource Person.

SCOPE organized an Interactive Meeting of Mr. K.V. Chowdary, Central Vigilance Commissioner with Chief Executives/Directors of CPSEs

on 22nd February, 2016 at SCOPE Convention Centre. The event attracted large participation from highest level in PSUs. CVC heard and responded to number of concerns highlighted by them. On this occasion, CVC released SCOPE Compendium on Contribution of CPSEs towards Make in India, Digital India, Skill India and Swachh Bharat.

DPE & SCOPE Organizes Workshop on CSR

While inaugurating the Workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility of CPSEs on 8th February, 2016, at SCOPE Convention Centre, New Delhi,

Mr. Ameising Luikham, IAS, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) asked for more vigorous efforts towards utilization of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in judicious manner. He told that PSEs have to work within the ambit of Companies Act 2013 and the Guidelines of the Government to undertake CSR activity.

Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE highlighted the excellent work done by PSEs for corporate social sector which is a matter of paramount importance providing intangible benefits to corporate sector, sometimes even better than technology and patent. Dr. Madhukar Gupta, IAS, Additional Secretary, DPE and a galaxy of CPSEs representatives at top level participated in the Workshop.

Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS), under the aegis of SCOPE, organized 26th National Meet on the theme ‘A Holistic Approach on

Skill Development for Women in PSUs’ in Chennai where a galaxy of women employees from public sector undertakings participated.

Dr. U.D. Choubey, Director General, SCOPE participated in the National Meet and addressed the women executives. Dr. Choubey informed that for empowerment and career development of women employees, SCOPE is planning to organize three to four programmes exclusively for women executives on Leadership Development, Corporate Governance, Safety, Health & Environment, and other issues of relevance for their growth.

DG, SCOPE advised the women employees to prepare themselves to embrace tough and challenging jobs to rise higher in the ladder. He also urged PSEs to provide all facilities to promote a decent world of work for women employees. The National Meet was also addressed by Padma Vibhushan,Dr. V.Shanta, Chairman, Adyar Cancer Institute, Chennai, Smt Lalita Kumaramangalam, Hon’ble Chairperson, National Commission for Women, Mr. Ashok Kumar Pavadia, IRTS, Addl Secretary & Adviser in the Inter State Council Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs; Ms. Selvi Ravindran, President, WIPS Apex; and Ms. Kirti Tiwari, Secretary, WIPSApex.

AAI has been entrusted with the responsibility of issuance of ‘No Objection Certificate’ for height clearance for structures around the airports to achieve the

objective of flightsafety. NOCAS Version 2.0 has been developed by AAI’s in-house NOC team in close collaboration with NIIT with user friendly automated features. This version provides access to Urban and Town Planners as well as individual applicants, to verify status of NOC issued. Colour Coded Zoning Maps (CZZM) are available for 12 major cities including the four metros.

The NOCAS Version was dedicated to the nation recently by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Mr. P. Ashok GajapathiRaju.

The inaugural run of the core of 25 kN indigenous Aero Engine (Hindustan Turbo Fan Engine – HTFE 25), was successfully completed in the presence of Defence

Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar at HAL’s Engine Division recently. He also launched the design and development project of Hindustan Turbo Shaft Engine (HTSE-1200) which can be used for helicopters.

Hindustan Steelworks Construction Limited (HSCL) has been awarded the work of constructing 160 pre-fabricated Anganwadi

centres (AWC) in Odisha by Department of Women & Child Development, Khurda and Puri District, Government of Odisha. HSCL’s design of the Anganwadi centres in the state of Odisha has attracted the attention of the State Government because of its low cost, attractive design and ease of construction.

Debasis Sen, Director (P&BD), launched a new high-performance grade of PROPEL polymer on the sidelines of INDPLAS-2015,

held at Kolkata recently. He was joined by Mr. Siddhartha Mitra, ED (Petrochemicals), Mr. Gautam Bose, ED (Regional Services), ER and Mr. A.N. Jha, GM (Petrochemicals).

Dr. Anoop Kumar Mittal, CMD, NBCC, attended Annual Investor Conference 2015 named “The

Stock Called India” organized by IDFC Securities in Mumbai, recently. Dr. Mittal, addressed a large investment fraternity comprising Foreign and Domestic Institutional Investors, Analysts, Financial Institutions and Media Personnel vis-a-vis dwelling upon number of issues about stocks, he, during the main IDFC conference themed “CEO TRACK”, also gave a detailed account of NBCC’s growth story, success, operational strategy including the future outlook and focus of the Company.

NLC observed the National Energy Conservation Day as part of the National Energy Conservation Week -2015 celebrations at the Lignite Hall. Mr. Janaki

VKNRL Hospital recently implemented the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) - a software solution that takes care of

end to end medical services.

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) provided the first electric crematorium to the

western district of Sambalpur in Odisha. The facility was inaugurated by MLA Sambalpur, Dr. Raseswari Panigrahi in the presence of Sambalpur Development Authority Chairman, Mr. Bijay Mohanty and MCL CMD, Mr. Anil Kumar Jha. MCL funded under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Rs one crore for the development of Raj Ghat at Sambalpur, which included improvement of Rajgaht, land scapping work, water supply, installation of 250 KVA transformer and installation of one electricity-operated human crematorium.

Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), won the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2015 for ‘Corporate Excellence-

Commendation for Significant Achievement’. SAIL was selected as the winner in ‘Category A’, which includes companies with a turnover of over Rs 2000 crore. SAIL received the recognition for its performance and contribution in the Economic, Social and Environmental segment of its business at a function graced by Railway Minister, Mr. Suresh Prabhu recently at New Delhi.

For implementation of NRL’s Bio Refinery Project, NRL signed an MoU with Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA) for sourcing of 2 lakh

tonnes/annum of semi-processed bamboo from Nagaland to be utilised as feedstock for its Bio Refinery. The MoU was signed between GM (Mktg & BD) NRL - Mr. B. Ekka & Mission Director NBDA - Mr. T. Imkonglemba Ao (IAS) at Dimapur.

NTPC Ltd and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) have signed

an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding for Research and

Development in the areas of mutual interest mainly materials and components

development critical to existing power plants recently in Hyderabad.
