Higgins This session’s theme is based on the hilarious children’s bookin which the grumpy Bruce mistakenly ends up becoming the adoptive mother to some very cute goslings. Our academic focus for this session will be the zoology and animal classification. This worm is easy to identify with as he dreams of becoming a super hero and deals with the perils of daily life as a worm. The academic focus this session will be vocabulary building, spelling and handwriting. Water experience: Splash Ball Toss | INFLATABLE SLIP ‘N’ SLIDE In house field trip: Wild Things Dance Party by Stretch and Grow! Outbound Field Trip: Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center | HEB (Junior Partners Experience) Project: Bullet Journal and Cartooning | Kid’s Café: Cucumber Sandies and Sunshine Tea Session III- July 2 nd -July 13 th* Freckle Juice by Judy Blume *No Camp on July 4 th This session’s theme is based on the heartwarming children’s story in which a quest for freckles leads to experimentation and…freckle juice! The academic focus this session will be the scientific method, experimentation and math concepts such as measuring, fractions, and estimation! Water experience:Colorful Mixology 101 (water play) In house field trip:Soccer Shots!/ Bike-A-Thon Outbound Field Trip: AMF Bowling Alley Project: Elephant toothpaste | Kid’s Café: Red, white and blue parfait Session IV- July 16 th -July 27 th Arthur’s Tooth by Marc Brown This session’s theme is based on the classic children’s story by Marc Brown in which Arthur has a wiggly tooth and has a very interesting visit to the dentist. During this session, we will put on our annual SCMS Theater Production. The academic focus will be creative writing and theatre production. Water experience: Soapy Ball Pit Fun! (water kick ball game) In house field trip: Kona Ice Treat and…Geebo the Magic Man! Outbound field trip: AMC Theater- The Incredibles 2 Project: SCMS Theater Production “Arthur’s Tooth” | Kid’s Café: Frozen Strawberry Sorbet Session V- July 30 th - August 10 th Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown Where would you go if you could mail yourself anywhere? In this session we will explore the globe as Stanley did in this fun children’s story. Our academic focus will be map work, geography, cardinal directions and scavenger hunting. Critical thinking is key during this fun session that will have our campers challenged and exhilarated. We will be working on problem solving skills through puzzle working, brain challenges and team work activities. Water experience: Ice Block Challenge (under what conditions will the ice melt the fastest) In house field trip: SCMS’s Got Talent! Project: Treasure Map Making Kid’s Café: Chips and Dips! *In-house activities and field trips are subject to change based on availability.
