Identify the problem (question)
Why won’t my car start?
Research (gather information)
Look under the hood for a possible problem.
Hypothesis (a possible explanation)
Corrosion on the battery may be causing a bad connection
Procedure• Remove wires with 11mm socket and
wrench• Clean battery terminals and wires with a
brush• Reconnect clean battery wires
Experiment (test the hypothesis)
Do the procedure and then try to start the car.
Results (collect and analyze data)
Engine roared. Car started!
ConclusionThe car wouldn’t start due to a bad battery
connection.
