Grading

Participation 15% Classwork/Labs 20%

Homework 15% Quizzes 20%

Tests 30%

*Please check PowerSchool regularly to monitor progress.

Participation:

Each week you start with a 100….you will lose 5 points each time you are missing HW/Materials or not following the CMS High 5. During the 3rd and 4th marking period it increases to 10 points.

Classwork/Labs:

Activities/labs we do in class for one or more days….Wiki, Moodle, unit related tasks/labs

Homework:

Tasks assigned to practice concepts and vocabulary taught in class.

If you miss a class (lesson, absence from school) it is your responsibility to make up the missed work. Pick up missed work from the Absent Crate Area. You may get information/direction from a study buddy, or your teacher, during flex.

Quizzes:

3-4 quizzes will be given throughout each marking period

They are vocabulary and concept based

Homework, Classwork, and Quizzes can ALWAYS be improved for a better grade . Corrections need to be done on a separate sheet of paper and stapled to the original.

Quizzes ONLY can be signed by a parent to also receive 10 bonus points.

Tests:

There will be one unit test each marking period

Our units are: Scientific Tools and Measurement, Geology, Chemistry, & Ecology

HealthHealth will be taught as mini units in between our 4 science units. Health grades will be combined into each student’s overall Science grade—it will NOT be a separate grade.

Units: Germs & Disease, Self-Esteem, Personal Safety, Nutrition
