Science Mobile Lab
Tuesday, December 7th and
Wednesday, December 8th
The Science Mobile Lab is a mobile unit that travels throughout Kentucky
to help give students a hands-on Science experience. We were able to spend 2 days with the Mobile Lab and complete 4 different experiments.
The first time we stepped into the Science Mobile Lab we created our
own lip balm and gluep. We watched as Mr. Hodge explained the process of making Lip Balm. We used Bees
Wax and Soybean Oil. We discussed solids, liquids, and gases during the heating process. We also discussed
solutions versus mixtures.

After finishing our lip balm we divided into our scientific lab groups of three. We then proceeded to make Gluep! We again discussed the three states of matter, solids, liquids, gases. We
also talked about Non-Newtonian Fluids. Each group was able to mix the Gluep to whatever color they
chose!

Next, we entered the world of chemistry. We mixed ingredients together to make chocolate chip cookies. We made one gigantic chocolate chip bar and boy was it delicious!!
Our last experiment was the most delicious of all! We again used chemistry to make our very own Vanilla ice-cream. We added milk, vanilla, and sugar to a bag.
Then we shook about 500 times to turn the ingredients into ice-cream!
Cool!
Shake, shake,
and shake some more!
We’re still shaking!

Can we stop

Even Mrs. Arant is
shaking. We have to
shake to mix our
ingredients and turn our liquid milk, sugar, and
vanilla, into a solid yummy ice-cream!
So many people forget that our foods come from farms and
farming communities. Check out all of the products we can get from
farms- it is amazing!
