Ray Bradbury• Born on August 22, 1920 in Illinois

• Fan of magic and read fantasy and adventure fiction (L. Frank Baum, Jules Verne)

• Started writing around age 12 or 13

• Moved to L.A. in 1934. After high school, went to libraries 3 days a week

• Sold newspapers to earn money while he wrote

• Published issues of his own fan magazine, Futuria Fantasia

• Full-time writer by 1943

• Published more than 30 books, 600 short stories, and several poems/plays/screenplays/essays
