SCIENCE AND THE CITY!

This is an initiative carried

out by Co-Creating Cultures

that has The Tech Virtual

Museum suport.

One of its main aims is to

explore the technology and

the science principles that

are inside and around a city.

Science and the City is an

exhibit ion that enables

citizens to participate in its

own creation.

People will be asked to

upload their videos about

w h e r e t h e y c a n fi n d

technology or science in

their own city or any other

city that they visit during

their work time, hollidays or

just travelling around.

This project wants to show

peop le tha t t ech and

s c i e n c e a r e n o t j u s t

disciplines made in a lab.

We find them everyday in

our way to the school or

enjoying a movie at the

cinema.

With this initiative we want

to encourage people to look

for that tech and science for

themselves. They will be the

new tech and science

communicators!

WHY PARTICIPATE?We believe that participants will learn more about their city and the tech and science behind it, if they work on what surprises them or the topics they like. We think that participatory exhibitions make visitors feel more involved. An exhibition that has been created in collaboration with people will be more creative, varied and representative.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?Everybody is welcome to participate in this project. People who want to take part on it, just have to look around and look for some technology or science principle. Mirrows, traffic lights, boats, trees, fossils, bicycles, trains, fountains, mobile phones, food... Everything can be explained by active citizens. Anything will be interesting for visitors.

HOW CAN EVERYBODY PARTICIPATE?Co-Creating Cultures and The Tech Virtual Museum will organize a tech or science video of a city contest. People will  send their videos to be chosen by an  open online poll. The winners will get 600$. The most voted videos will be displayed on an online exhibition at Co-Creating Cultures webside, and possibly displayed in public spaces.

POPULARISING

EXHIBITIONSThe process of creating an exhibition

is a learning process that can be

shared with visitors. Science and the

City  is an opportunity  for people  to

investigate the technology and

science around them.

Science and the City can be

replicated in a smaller scope in

secondary schools, art faculties or

special centers. I can also be a global

initiative spread out in all the cities of

planet Earth.

AND TECH MUSEUMSIt is not easy to come up with new

and interesting science and tech

communicat ion mater ia l every

season. This project will inspire

science and tech communication

professionals and its result ing

material will be included in the Tech

Museum exhibits repository.
