It lets the audience know what the storyline is, but doesn’t give too much away because they don’t wont to spoil it. Trailers include enough to make the audience want to go and see it because there may be unanswered questions that they want to know, making them want to see the film even more. How is the trailer making meaning for the audience? The trailer of star wars: the force awakens, creates an effect on the audience because it comes across as a very adventurous and thrilling film, which would cause the audience to be excited. What are the representational issues in the trailer? There aren’t many representational issues in the Star Wars: the force awakens trailer. This is because the men and women in the trailer are portrayed as equal because they share roles. Normally, stereotypically, the man would usually be the dominant hero, whereas in this trailer, the woman is shown as a powerful hero. How is the audience meant to act? –uses and gratifications I think the audience is meant to act entertained and exhilarated because the trailer shows suspense, which makes the audience more persuaded to see the film. What part of the narrative are revealed? Why? In the trailer, the key parts of the storyline is shown in order for the audience to understand what the film is about. It reveals what the situation is and what they have to do, but not too much. It leaves it on a cliff hanger so it can create tension for the audience. Is it an effective trailer? Why? I think it is an effective trailer, as it doesn’t reveal too much, but reveals enough to encourage people to go see the film. It also includes good special effects to portray a better summary of what the film is about, and the shots taken create an effect to make the film look more adventurous and exciting.
