SlipStop and HANS Patented SlipStop TechnologySlipStop System – Patented Technology from SCHROTH: the SlipStop surface on the HANS inhi-bits the webbing from sliding off the HANS surface. The “grooves” are asymmetrically designed which guides the textured webbing surface inwards on the HANS. The new HANS surface is designed to work with standard racing harnesses as well as the newly developed SCHROTH SlipStop harness range. Tested in the WRC, the SlipStop harnesses incorporates “counter grooves” under the harness which fi t perfectly into the grooved SlipStop HANS surface! Once the harness is properly installed in the vehicle, the counter grooves fi t automatically to the HANS giving a “positive lock”. An added benefi t is a newly designed adjuster which incorporates the SlipStop System. This new design allows you to tighten the shoulder belts easier and faster than any other sys-tem available.

Der in der WRC getestete SlipStop Hosenträgergurt ist ein Design mit ein-gearbeiteten „Gurtgegenstücken“ unter dem Schultergurt, welche perfekt in die gerillte SlipStop Oberfl äche des HANS Systems greifen!Sobald der Hosenträgergurt richtig eingebaut ist, legen sich die Gegenstücke automatisch auf der HANS Oberfl ä-che an, was mit einem „positiven Einrasten“ vergleichbar ist. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist die neu entwickelte Längenver-stellung mit eingearbeitetem SlipStop System. Dieses neue Design ermöglicht es Ihnen, die Schultergurte einfacher und schneller als bei jedem anderen erhältlichen System stramm zu ziehen.

The ideal solution for drivers who have diffi culties becoming comfortable with their HANS we’d like to introduce our new designed “double belt” harness. The double belt has been tested and proven in F1, WRC and NASCAR. This 8-point professional har-ness has the same features as the Profi II-6 inclu-ding the Flexi Belt system. Designed for cars with wrap-type attachments on the roll-cage. Special versions with sewn ends are available through spe-cial orders for custom needs or formula chassis.

Ursprünglich für David Coulthard konstruiert, hat sich der Doppelgurt zur idealen Lösung für Fahrer entwickelt, die Schwierigkeiten haben, sich mit ihrem HANS System wohl zu fühlen. Da der Körpergurt direkt über den Overall verläuft, hat der Fahrer das Gefühl fester angeschnallt zu sein. Das HANS wird dann unter dem HANS-Gurt separat fi xiert. Hier kann die Festigkeit unabhängig vom Körpergurt gewählt werden. Der Doppelgurt wurde erfolgreich in der F1, WRC und NASCAR eingeführt. Alle 4 Gurtenden werden an die Schultergurt-Querstrebe des Käfi gs geschlauft. Son-deranfertigungen mit genähten Schlaufen werden zum Bei-spiel in Formelfahrzeugen erforderlich, wo eine Schlaufung der Schultergurte nicht zum Einsatz kommen kann.

ECE-R 16.04 RFR

SCHROTH street legal harness belts are unique in their ability to be installed to factory provided mounting points along with the factory provided seat belts. SCHROTH harness belts meet all certifi cation requirements by the German TÜV, ECE-R 16.04 and US-DOT for use on public roads. Each belt comes with complete installation and operating instructions. If your vehicle is listed in the included Vehicle Reference List the installation has been tested and approved with the stock seat or the listed aftermarket seats.

Unlike most other aftermarket harness belts, most SCHROTH street legal harness belts have a unique disconnect feature between the front part of the harness and the rear tail strap. When you are not using the SCHROTH street legal harness belts, they can be stored out of the way allowing complete access for all passengers and full use of all factory seat belts.

32The patented SCHROTH RFR rotary (cam lock) buckle operates with a carbon fi ber reinforced gear system. Since it operates grease free it is insensitive to dust and other environmental infl uences. RFR the abbreviation for Regressive Force Release, means the release force is reduced during release operation rather than increasing as seen with all other rotary buckle products. Therefore the RFR buckle meets the stringent FIA required release forces without the need of an extended lever. The patented actuator with the recessed lever helps to avoid the risk of accidental release. The durable RFR rotary buckle is approximately 30 percent lighter than other products, yet it is still one of the strongest in the market. For FIA and ECE-R 16.04 (street legal) approved racing harnesses (FE models for Rally driving) it is available as a push button type buckle.

SCHROTH-Gurte sind nicht nur bauartgenehmigt (durch ECE-R 16.04), sondern sind die Einzigen, die mit einer ABG geliefert werden. Damit sind sie abnahmefrei in Fahrzeuge gemäß der SCHROTH-Fahrzeugzuordnungsliste einbau-bar.

Der patentierte SCHROTH RFR-Drehverschluss bas-iert auf einer kohlefaserverstärkten Öffnungsmechanik, die ohne Fett und somit unanfällig gegenüber Staub und anderen Einfl üssen arbeitet. Durch die sich während der Bedienung reduzierenden Öffnungskräfte (RegressiveForceRelease) benötigt der SCHROTH RFR-Dreh-verschluss im Gegensatz zu allen anderen Drehverschlüssen keinen überstehenden Hebel, um die strengen FIA Anforderungen zu erfüllen. Das patentierte Design des Verschlussdeckels mit dem integrierten Hebel schließt unbeabsichtigtes Öffnen praktisch aus. Darüber hinaus ist der Verschluss um ca. 30% leichter als andere vergleichbare Produkte. Trotzdem kann der SCHROTH RFR-Drehverschluss als einer der stabilsten Verschlüsse am Markt bezeichnet werden. Für zusätzlich ECE-R 16.04 straßenzugelassene Renngurte (FE-Modelle für den Rallyeeinsatz) steht der SCHROTH RFR-Verschluss mit Drucktastenbetätigung zur Verfügung.

The patented SCHROTH asm system offers an unique safety advantage for 4-point harnesses. asm is the acronym for anti submarining. The risk to submarine (sliding underneath the lap belt), a well known phenomenon during frontal impacts, is signifi cantly reduced by the asm safety system. The energy converter is located in the inboard shoulder belt. Therefore make sure you purchase left and/or right harnesses. Severe injuries or death are possible using 4-point harnesses without the SCHROTH asm safety system or an anti-sub strap. SCHROTH harnesses designed for use on public roads (FE push button models) or those likely to be used as 4-points come with the asm safety system. The performance of the SCHROTH asm safety system has also been positively tested in conjunction with airbags. Current Head And Neck Supports (HANS) provide further reduction of head deceleration and neck injury. All SCHROTH racing models likely to be used with any head and neck devices come without the asm system.

Racing harnesses without asm must be worn with an anti-sub strap!

Das asm-Sicherheitssystem befi ndet sich bei diesen Gurten im innenliegenden Schultergurt. Bei 4-Punkt-Gurten ohne asm können bei einem Frontal-aufprall gefährliche Verletzungen auftreten. Daher werden SCHROTH Gurte, die im Straßenverkehr (FE Versionen) oder auch als 4-Punkt-Gurte eingesetzt werden, immer mit asm ausgestattet. Die hervorragende Wirkweise der SCHROTH asm-Gurte konnte auch im Einsatz mit Airbags nachgewiesen werden.Kopf- und Nacken-Schutz-Systeme (HANS -Head And Neck Support) erlauben eine gute Rückhaltung des Kopfes mit reduzierter Nackenbeugung. Alle SCHROTH Renngurte, die zusammen mit einem solchen Kopfschutz genutzt werden können, werden ohne asm geliefert.

Gurte ohne asm müssen im eigenen Interesse immer mit einem Schrittgurt getragen werden!

Webbing that makes the difference!The webbing we use is especially designed and manufactured for SCHROTH. Each lot manufactured must pass our stringent quality control procedures. SCHROTH only uses Polyester material. Polyester has advantages over Polyamide (NYLON®) webbing. Advantages, such as lesser degradation under light (see fi gure 1) and a resistance against acids like battery acid. In addition Polyester does not absorb moisture so the performance of SCHROTH harnesses do not change whatever the climate may be.Polyester also has a better force/elongation ratio so a well designed webbing can dissipate more energy during an accident.

Unique to SCHROTH is the „memory effect“ we have designed into our webbing. Special mono fi laments laterally woven in, perform like small leaf springs and keep the webbing fl at. This results in better load spreading over the full width of the SCHROTH webbing. An additional advantage of the SCHROTH webbing: The special weaving technology forms round edges for additional comfort (see fi gure 2).

Somit haben klimatische Einfl üsse keine Auswirkungen auf das Verhalten von SCHROTH Gurten.Polyester zeichnet sich auch durch bessere Kraft-/Dehnungseigenschaften aus und kann somit während eines Unfalls mehr Energie wandeln.

Als einmalig gilt der „Memory Effekt“, den wir in das SCHROTH Gurtband integriert haben: Spezielle Mono-Fasern, in Querrichtung eingewebt, wirken wie kleine Blattfedern und halten das Gurtband fl ach. Dadurch wird eine bessere Lastverteilung über die gesamte Gurtbandbreite erreicht. Als besonders angenehmen Nebeneffekt des SCHROTH Gurtbandes werden Sie die runden Kanten mit ihren angenehmen Trageeigen-schaften (s. Grafi k 2) empfi nden.

Hybrid Restraints Flexi Belt

Engineering in Action!Typical Formula (D-Ring) restraints display high upper torso trajectory during a crash. To reduce this trajectory, the crotch straps have to be routed backwards and to be worn extremely tight. Some drivers complain of reduced blood fl ow in their legs. In addition, this confi guration does not help during a rear impact to keep the buckle and the lap belt in the correct position. In particular in typical open-wheel race car seating positions the driver is not kept fi rmly in his seat but is likely to move up exceeding the roll over protection bar.The so called T-bar 6-point belt design provides a better restraining function since the anti-sub straps can be routed downward following approximately a chest/crotch tangential. This keeps the buckle in place and provides direct load transfer from the shoulder straps into the anti-sub straps. During a rear impact the anti-sub straps keep the buckle and lap belt in place and restrain the driver much better in the seat.The disadvantage of this type of harness: the T-bar should be wide enough to properly separate the anti-sub straps but is then likely to stick into the upper thighs. To increase the comfort, the buckle is often not worn as low as it should for best lap belt positioning.The solution: the revolutionary SCHROTH Hybrid Restraint.The crotch straps are not routed through D-rings or attached to a T-bar but are held directly by the specially developed lap belt latches. Thanks to the patented SCHROTH RFR rotary buckle the load tranfer from the shoulder belts through the buckle into the anti-

sub straps and vice versa in case of a rear impact is achieved. This direct load transfer is important for optimal restraining performance.

Technik in Aktion!Typische Formel-Gurte zeigen bei einem Frontalaufprall weite Oberkörpervorverlagerungen. Um diese soweit wie möglich zu reduzieren, müssen die Schrittgurte nach hinten verlaufend und extrem eng getragen werden. Formel 1 Fahrer klagen über abgestorbene Füße, da die Blutzirkulation reduziert wird. Dieser Schrittgurtverlauf hilft aber bei einem Heckaufprall nicht, den Verschluss unten zu halten. Dadurch kann der Fahrer in typischer Formel-Sitzposition nicht sicher im Sitz gehalten werden – er kann nach oben über den Überrollschutz hinausrutschen.Bessere Rückhaltung bieten T-bar-Gurte. Die Schrittgurte können hier in etwa entlang der Tangente Oberkörper/Leiste nach unten verlaufend befestigt werden. Das hält den Verschluss in Position und erlaubt direkten Kraftfl uss von den Schultergurten durch den Verschluss bis in die Schrittgurte. Während eines Heckaufpralls hält der Schrittgurt den Verschluss und damit den Beckengurt in Position und den Fahrer somit deutlich besser im Sitz. Nachteil dieser Gurte: Der T-bar muss eine Mindestgröße haben, um die Schrittgurte ausreichend zu separieren, sticht dann aber inakzeptabel in die Oberschenkel. Um den Komfort zu erhöhen, werden bei solchen Gurten die Verschlüsse oft nicht optimal tief für eine gute Beckengurtführung getragen.Die Lösung des Problems: Der revolutionäre SCHROTH-Hybrid Gurt.Die Schrittgurte werden nicht mehr durch Umlenker zu den Schultergurten geführt oder an einem T-bar befestigt, sondern direkt mit den dafür entwickelten Beckengurtzungen gehalten. Dank des patentierten RFR- Drehverschlusses kann die Kraft der Schultergurte durch den Verschluss in die Beckengurtzungen und von dort in die Schrittgurte geführt werden. Bei einem Heckaufprall verhält sich das genau umgekehrt. Dieser direkte Kraft-fl uss entscheidet über eine gute Rückhaltefunktion.

Flexi Belt - one harness, many variations!Length adjusters in lap belts come as „pull-ups“ or „pull-downs“. In addition they often have to be positioned differently to achieve optimal operation. SCHROTH has developed the solution which covers your different needs with just one lap belt model: the “Flexi Belt”.The lap belt latches and brackets supplied with the harness can be assembled to the lap belt with a two-bar sliding bracket allowing you to change the confi guration. With this you decide on pull-up or pull-down versions and if applicable, different for the left and right lap belt portion. You may also vary the lengths to optimize the adjuster position depending on your car, your seat and seating position. Even exchanging mounting hardware is possible (e.g. a bolt-in bracket for a snap-on bracket). „Flexi Belt“ is only available with 50 mm (2”) lap belts, SCHROTH “-II” models.

Flexi Belt - ein Gurt, viele Varianten!Wer Hosenträgergurte nutzt, der weiß um die Begriffe „pull-up“ und „pull-down“ in Beckengurten.
