The two cases presented above are good examples to elaborate on the types of

    euthanasia.

In the case of the mother who won the case to kill her disabled daughter, Charlotte,

the mother, led a petition before the court to end the suering of her child !ancy

"it#maurice$ through death. The court granted her petition holding that the child didnot possess the %uality of life. &owever, the mother, instead of using any possible

methods to terminate the life of the child chose to perform the passive euthanasia,

a way where the parent refused to employ painless methods to end the life of the

child. I do not advocate death as an answer to misery. &owever, in certain

circumstances where a friendly solution could be impossibly addressed, death

becomes an option. "ollowing Immanuel 'ant(s view of a person, since the child

does not possess the autonomous rationality, it would be enough to say that the life

of the severely disabled child must be ended. Considering that for twelve years and

more if continued$ the mother still needs )*+hour care to her child, it would already

be a ustication that since the child is no longer capable to preserve her own life,

the mother did a brave choice and should be commended. It is also important to

note that the decision does not only end one person(s suering but the entire

    family(s as well.

In another case, -rittany aynard, knowing full well that her life would not continue

longer, chose to terminate her life by taking a fatal dose of barbiturates. This can be

an example of active euthanasia, where -rittany chose to end her life by resorting

to any mean that would help trigger the termination of her life. -ut this can also be

an example of suicide, where she directly and willfully destructed her own life. The

church highly condemns such an act because regardless of one(s motive, the act is

in itself categori#ed as suicide. -ut similar with the previous case presented, I still

see the light that despite killing oneself, the act of -rittany can be ustied

considering that her main intention was to relieve from pain, even though the act

entails killing. &owever, it still gives me the confusion that how can a person feel

the relief from suering when in the rst place, his/her physicality is no longer

    present to feel the eect0
