SCHOOL UNIFORMS

School uniforms

For a couple of weeks we have been working with the topic ”School uniforms” using the PPT:s ”Welcome to my school”.

Goals

We wanted the students to :

1. try Cooperative learning,

2. have interesting discussions pro and against uniforms

3. experience how it feels to wear a uniform

and….

end this topic with a CLIMATES-day for the whole school on December the 2nd

Group work

We divided our classes into 3 groups since there are 3 countries that use uniforms, GB, Turkey and Romania.

Each group was given a photo (taken from the PPT:s) of children wearing uniforms. The photo was placed upside down on the table.

The students spent a few minutes discussing what the uniform would look like before they on a given signal turned the paper. Then they made drawings of the uniforms.

Uniforms for Åsedaskolan

Each class also made suggestions of a uniform suitable for Åsedaskolan. This was real fun and and many more or less suitable uniforms were created

CLIMATES-day

On December the 2nd we wanted the children to: dress up in uniforms. We chose a very easy

outfit, blue trousers/jeans and a white top (so the parents wouldn´t have to buy new clothes).

bake scones, drink tea and talk about the topic

At 10 o´clock 127 students dressed in ”school uniforms” gathered around the flag and waved!

During the day 14 classes played ”Hide and seek” in the schoolyard!

In the afternoon the children baked 350 scones!

Two local newspapers made interviews with the children.
