The president also presented a letter from Lieut. DeLancey, in reference
to an indoor target range, which^was discussed, but upon which no action was tafcen.
On motion of Mr. Graham, the secretary was authorized to pay the salary
of the ia'te: Jesse J. Myers up to September 1,
The president presented a communication from Professor Taft, and a peti-
tion from institute workers, for increase per diem. On motion of Mr. Doherty, it
was decided that no increase should be made during the coming year, and that the
expenses of farmers* institutes should be confined to the appropriation that is
made. • •
On motion of Mr. Doherty, the secretary was authorized to build a new
porch on the house occupied by professor Vedder.

On motion of Mr, Waterbury, the expenses of Professor Barrows in
attending the funeral of the late Jesse J. Myers were approved.
On motion of Mr. Doherty, the expenses of the engineering instructors
in attending students upon their annual trip of inspection were allowed.
Dr. Mumford, communicated the following proposition from Mr. 0. H. Benson,
specialist in charge of the boys' and girls' club wortc for the United States De-
partment of Agriculture:
"If you can arrange through the College of Agriculture to pay thetravelling and subsistence expenses of Mr. M. S. Duckies for a period of three*months, beginning June 1 or June 15, professor Smith has authorized me to statethat the Department will be able and willing to pay him at the rate of #100 amonth for his salary". '
On motion of Mr. Woodman, authority was given to pay the expenses of
Mr. Uucia.es- as .per the above proposition, up to $160.00,
On motion of Mr. Woodman, and upon recommendation of Dean Shaw, professor
Eustace was appointed vice-director of the experiment station.
On motion of Mr. Graham, the list of salaried employes for the ensuing
year, and the salaries to be paid, as shown below, was approved.

President Snyder presented His resignation as president of Michigan
Agricultural College, in the following communication:
"East Lansing, June 9, 1914.
To the Honorable State Board of Agriculture:
Resignation Gentlemen:
The class- of over two hundred to wnom I shall have the honor to. hand
diplomas- in a few days is the nineteenth class- to graduate under my administration.
For some time Mrs. Snyder and I have felt that we would wish to retire
from this strenuous life upon the completion.of twenty years of service, AS
this is the last Board meeting of the college year, I therefore tender my resigna-
tion thus far in advance that you may have ample time to select: my successor
to taXe charge-at the "oeginning of the college year, September first, 1915;.

The-secretary presented a letter from-Mr. A. C. Carton, state land
commissioner, in reference to the matter of right of way requested"by H, M.
Loud*s~Sons Company across the following described lands: The southeast quarter
of the northwest quarter of section siXLj the southwest quarter of the northwest
quarter of section nine; the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter of -section
ten: all in town twenty-four north, range seven east. On motion of Mr. Graham,
the land commissioner was authorized to convey the right of way across the lands
afcove described for the sum of Seven hundred twenty dollars.
On motion of Mr. Waterbury, the committee on employes was authorized to
fill all vacancies-' that may occur in the list- of salaried employes.
On motion of Mr, Dcherty, the request of Mr.' C. V. R. Townsend, of the
Cleveiand-Cliffs Iron Company, for permission to let the wood "belonging tc that
company remain at the stump, on the'land, deeded to the State, until about May 1,
1915;, was granted. -
On motion of Mr. Woodman, authority was granted to erect a greenhouse,
25:-x 65-fee.tv on the east side of the present range of greenhouses,
on motion of Mr. .Waterbury, the expense accounts of the Board members
were allowed.
