Frank Tarantino is a Sweetwater Union High School District board member and retired district employee with 35 years of service as a teacher and guidance counselor. A San Diego native, he received his bachelor’s degree in history and master’s degree in education counseling from San Diego State University. He also has a master’s degree in education administration from National University. Tarantino supports a proactive student-centered agenda that ensures equal access to a challenging curriculum and prepares every student, at every school, for success in college and careers. In addition, he is an advocate for a district culture that builds partnerships between parents, employees, and community members.

Tommy SablanTommy Sablan is a producer and on-air talent on Jeff and the Showgram on KYXY 96.5. He grew up in Chula Vista and is a graduate of Castle Park High School. He attributes his interest and success in radio to his high school counselor, who led him to an internship at a local radio station when he was 15. Sablan is also involved with raising awareness among students and adults about prescription drug abuse in San Diego schools.

#LoveOurDaughters#LoveOurDaughters is an event for 5th-grade girls and their parents or guardians that can be implemented on elementary school campuses. #LoveOurDaughters is an interactive workshop where the adults learn how to S.T.E.W. with their tween and how to keep communication lines open. The Role of School Counselors within the New Accountability SystemsESSA, LCAP, LCFF… what do all these acronyms mean?! Hone your skills interpreting your district’s LCAP and advocating within the updated accountability framework.
