Solve the following questions:

Q1-Approximately what is the smallest detail observable with a microscope that uses ultraviolet light of frequency 1.20 × 10^15 Hz?

Q2- A laser emits light with a frequency of 4.69x10^14 Hz.

(a) What is the energy of one photon of the radiation from this laser?(b) If the laser emits a pulse of energy containing 5.0x10^17 photons of this radiation, what is the total energy of that pulse?(c) If the laser emits 1.3x10^–2 J of energy during a pulse, how many photons are emitted during the pulse?

Q3- What is the speed of light in meters per second and in miles per second in the following materials:

a. air, n = 1.00  b. water, n = 1.33   c. Crown glass, n = 1.523

Q4-What is the index of a material if the speed of yellow light in it is [these are made up, and may not be existing materials]:

a. 100,000 miles/second  b. 2.5 x 10 meters/second

Q5- Light travels from air into an optical fibre with an index of refraction of 1.44.

(a) In which direction does the light bend?(b) If the angle of incidence on the end of the fibre is 22 degrees, what is the angle of refraction inside the fibre?(c) Sketch the path of light as it changes media

Q6- A ray is incident on a material with an index of 1.50 at an angle of 56 degrees to the normal. If the ray is traveling from air, what is the angle of refraction?
