Summary Statement: Please provide a brief description for how the analyzed data will impact your Inquiry and Action Planning process.The Detwiler demographic data, as of count day in September 2015, African American (27.64%), White/Caucasian (4.34%), Hispanic/Latino (62.06%), Multi-race (3.39%), FRL (94.31%), IEP (13.82%), and EL (41.46%) with a total of 738 students. We are a ZOOM school and follow the ZOOM model with integrity. We use multiple data sources to determine the strength and weaknesses of the instructional program we provide to all students. We are able to confirm our proficiency gains and limitations based upon these multiple sources of data to create improved opportunities to increase student achievement.Our overall percent proficient in ELA is 23.47%. We will address these concerns in goal 1 of our plan.The most recent statewide summative assessment data identified:The percent proficient in grade 3 ELA is 27.0%. The percent proficient in grade 4 ELA is 11.88%. The percent proficient in grade 5 ELA is 32.26%.

Priority Need/Goal 1:Increase Grade 3 proficiency rates in reading.

 Root Causes:Grade level proficiency trend has continued to increase on formative and summative assessments. This growth has not been at a rate that will increase proficiency student within a year. The level of rigor in daily instruction must increase to meet the proficiency expectations of Nevada Academic Content Standards.

 Measurable Objective 1:Increase the percent of 3rd grade students proficient in ELA from 27% to 31% by 2017 as measured by state assessments.

 Measurable Objective 2:Decrease the percent of Kindergarteners below level in Reading from 92%(fall) to 72%(spring) as measured by the iReady assessment.

 Root Causes:The majority of time, resources, and professional development has been focused on English Language Arts instruction. Improved vocabulary and concept development need additional time and targeted differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students.Sub group data previously was not available.

 Measurable Objective 1:Increase the percentage of 3rd grade ELs who are on or above grade level in reading, as measured by end of year assessments, from 27% to 31% by June 2017.

 Measurable Objective 2:Increase the percentage of K-2 ELs who are on or above grade level in reading, as measured by iReady, from 26% to 36% by June 2017.

 Measurable Objective 3:Increase the percent of ELs meeting AGP, as measured by ELPA, from 62.20% to 72.20% by June 2017.

COMPONENT IV: REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS:  

Title I Schools operating a Schoolwide Program must complete Items 1 through 5 on this page. 

1. Describe the school's strategies to attract effective, highly-qualified teachers to your school.Through a collaborative effort with CCSD Human Resources and current staff members, we seek out and recruit highly qualified educators that fit our students, community, and collaborative environment. Teachers are provided with common planning time for professional development and collaboration.

 2. Describe the school's strategies to increase family engagement in accordance with Section 1118 of NCLB (see resource link), such as family literacy services and the provision to parents on how the school will share academic information in a language they understand.Detwiler Elementary staff facilitate multiple opportunities for community members to participate in their child's educational experience. Parent involvement activities include: grade level specific parent meetings, parent workshops, Fine Art Presentations, Academic Nights, and Student / Parent Conferences. In addition, we have Community in Schools position on site everyday to work with students and their families. Academic information is shared through progress reports and the Parent Portal.

 3. Describe the school's plans for transition and articulation between school programs (ie: assisting preschool children from early childhood programs such as Head Start, Even Start, or a state-run preschool program to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle to high school, etc.).Grade level team members in PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grade collaborate and support monthly parent workshops in addition to their grade level specific parent meetings that focus on age appropriate skills and current achievement levels. Fifth grade students and their parents are exposed to Magnet School opportunities beyond their zone middle school assignment. In the Spring, fifth grade students travel to West Prep Middle School for a preliminary orientation facilitated by staff and students.

 4. Identify the measures that include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments.Detwiler Elementary teachers creates common grade level formative and summative assessments to determine student proficiency. Formal formative assessments are given each Semester per school year to monitor and calibrate instruction.

 5. Provide assurance that federal, state, and local services are coordinated and integrated into the school improvement effortsAll resources provided become a part of what we do on a daily basis to meet the needs of our students. Instructional resources, staff, and learning opportunities are provided as a result of additional support provided by outside services and agencies. Example: Community in Schools, Zoom, Title I, etc.
