SCHOOL OF SOCIAL POLICY, SOCIOLOGY AND SOCIAL RESEARCH Head of School: Professor Julian Forder School Web Site: www.kent.ac.uk/sspssr Please refer to the online Module Catalogue for full details of all modules: www.kent.ac.uk/courses/modulecatalogue/ Note: It is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that you are registered for the correct modules for your programme. You must study 120 Credits at both Stage 2 and Stage 3 giving a total of 240 Credits over the two Stages. At least 90 Credits must be taken at Level 6 during Stage 3 to be eligible for an Honours degree. You must ensure that you choose an even weighting of Credits in each term: 60 Credits in the Autumn and 60 Credits in the Spring. No Level 4 modules can be taken at Stage 3. Taking a Year or Term Abroad The School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research offers their undergraduate students the chance to add an optional year or term abroad to their programme of study. Please see the SSPSSR Study Abroad pages at https://www.kent.ac.uk/sspssr/studying/study-abroad/index.html for available programmes. To be eligible for study abroad, you would normally need to have achieved an average of 60 or above in your first and second year of study. You are also advised to attend key talks and workshops offered by the International Office and the School. Where required, language achievement will be expected to be 40% or above as the programmes the module contributes to are not language programmes. To attend an institution where the language of instruction is not English, students must be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Year Abroad module convenor that they have sufficient language ability to do so, acquired either through modules studied at Kent or through other study or experience. This will include demonstrating the ability to communicate orally and in writing up to a level commensurate with degree level study. Students will also be required to enter into a Learning Agreement negotiated with the Director of Studies for the programme or the SSPSSR Director of International Programmes and the convenor of the Year Abroad Module.
