What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0“…refers to a perceived or proposed second generation of Web-based
services—such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and Folksonomies—that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users.” --Wikipedia, February 19, 2007

Blogs
Weblog: Blogs provide news and commentary on particular subjects. Many function as a personal online diary. Entries on a blog are posted in reverse chronological order.
Example:• Blogs can be created to encourage discussion and collaboration
among students :Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, MI and Cold Spring Harbor High School in NY reflect about Elie Wiesel’s, Night: http://nightwiesel.blogspot.com/
WikisWiki: a software allowing multiple users to edit, create and link to web
pages. Wikis are traditionally used as collaborative websites on specific, topics, events or projects.
Blogging Library Wiki: A collaborative space to learn more about library blogs (academic, public, school, and special).
Photo Sharing Sites
Photo sharing: Sites which allow users to upload, publish, tag, share, and organize their personal photos. Many photo sharing sites have a social networking component along with other features.

Tag: a (relevant) keyword or term associated with or assigned to a piece of information, thus describing the item and enabling keyword-based classification and search of information.

LibraryThing for Libraries: http://www.librarything.com/forlibraries http://opac.sfsu.edu/
Social Bookmarking: A way for users to store, manage, organize and share bookmarks of web pages. Instead of using folders, social bookmarks use tags to describe and organize the web pages. Social bookmarks can be available for other online users to view.

Social Networking
Social Networking: An online group or community of users with shared interests or activities. Social networking sites allow you to communicate and connect with friends, coworkers, colleagues, family , and students.
