STUDENT REPORTS - Reporting against the achievement standards in 2016
TCPS teachers are currently writing Semester 1 Student Reports and these will be sent home at the end of
term. Students will then have the opportunity to share their learning portfolio with parents on Wednesday 19th
July.
In 2016 TCPS began implementing the new curriculum for Victorian schools. This curriculum incorporates the
Australian Curriculum and reflects Victorian priorities and standards. The Victorian Curriculum covers the
knowledge and skills required by students for life-long learning; social development; and, active and informed
citizenship. In the Victorian Curriculum the achievement standards are structured in 11 levels for English and
Mathematics and in five or six bands for all the other learning areas.
What will I see in my child’s report?
Students and families will know what they have achieved.
Students and families will know the next main thing to focus on in their learning, especially in English and
Mathematics. These are the things that families can reinforce at home
Families will receive information on attendance for the Semester.
The Victorian Curriculum, Foundation to Year 10, represents the curriculum as a continuum of learning
and this is reflected in how the reports are presented to parents.
Each child’s report will show their development on the learning continuum.
A yellow band on the report will indicate the expected level and parents will be able to see how their
child is working against the expected level
Individual student Use of TCPS School Values will be reported on.
Planning Days
During this week teachers have been working in PLCs to analyse data and learning for first semester. As a follow
on from this teachers will again work together next week to plan the learning program for Term 3. During this
time classes will participate in specialist programs.
