The Schools established b7y the Trustees of the PennsylvaniaMuseum and School of Industrial Art, as a preliminary steptowards providing this City and 'State with a thorough systemof industrial art training, have, in the two years of theirexistence, fully demonstrated their usefulness. The attendanceboth at the Day School and at the Night School has beenprompt and regular, and characterized by an application on thepart of the students indicative of their earnestness of purposeand desire to learn. Among the scholars have been teachersin the public schools/, craftsmen and artisans, and young menand women 'studying with the view to ah immediate applicationof the knowledge acquired as a means of livelihood. On thisaccount, and in th/e absence of any provision by the State forthe development/' of the system proposed, the aim of theTrustees has been to give the students such instruction indrawing in its /industrial application, as can be made imme-diately useful in the industries and occupations of life. For the present, the purpose of the Schools will be to con-

tinue this course, extending it, as opportunity offers, over such
