Obligation based on tradition

Dear Customers,

For over 80 years, the Scheu name has

stood for first-class product and service

quality. Now into its third generation,

this family business continues to pro-

vide attractive products and services in

the fields of orthodontics, thermofor-

ming and dental sleep medicine. We are

regarded as market leaders and techno-

Christian Scheu,managing director since 1991

Top quality is our primary aim – an

objective that together with our 85+

employees in Iserlohn we put into prac-

tice day after day. To accomplish this

we put our faith in continuity. A conti-

nuity that is seen not only in the fact

that the family has run the company for

some 85 years, but also in our most

valuable asset – our employees, many

of whom have been with the company

for decades or are the sons and

daughters of previous members of staff.

We are all highly motivated and love our

work!

We trust that this new catalogue will

fully convince you of this. Alternatively,

simply drop in to see us – we are

always at your service, ready to listen

and give advice.

With warmest regards,

Christian Scheu

logical pioneers in these areas – not

only here in Germany, but in now more

than 100 countries. Our portfolio is

based both on proven prosthetic and

orthodontic products, some of which

were developed by my grandfather, the

company’s founder, Rudolf Scheu, and,

above all, on sophisticated innovations.

Top priority is given in all our product

development to our customers’ wishes

and expectations. Our highly trained

sales consultants and application tech-

nicians are always at your service with

their in-depth know-how. We also regu-

larly provide courses and training sessi-

ons that can make your everyday work

appreciably easier.

Page 4: SCHEU Katalog 2012 GBªs.pdforthodontic products, some of which were developed by my grandfather, the company’s founder, Rudolf Scheu, and, above all, on sophisticated innovations.

By this time Rudolf Scheu had also

qualified as a dentist. And he had also

made a name for himself as an author

of books on prosthetics.

After his partner Ewald Wittmer had left

the firm in 1954, Rudolf Scheu took

over sole management of the business,

now named SCHEU-DENTAL.

From the late 1950s onwards the young

company's product portfolio was

continually expanded, initially with new

removable orthodontic articles, such as

the renowned SCHEU anchor.

At the end of the 1960s the founder's

son, business graduate Rolf Scheu,

took over the company. Under his

management the second largest area of

business, pressure moulding technique,

was developed, and was steadily

expanded by the various generations of

the BIOSTAR® and later the MINISTAR®

and TWINSTAR®.

Cold moulding instead of soldering was

the idea which enabled dentist Rudolf

Scheu to optimise the production of

clasps and, in 1926, led to the foundation

of the Wittmer & Scheu company in

Hagen, in partnership with Ewald

Wittmer. Business with the single-piece

clasps had been good from the very

beginning, but was unfortunately inter-

rupted by the Second World War.

However, immediately after the end of

the war the founders Scheu and Witt-

mer relaunched their business and their

success story resumed.

1926 – 2012

Page 5: SCHEU Katalog 2012 GBªs.pdforthodontic products, some of which were developed by my grandfather, the company’s founder, Rudolf Scheu, and, above all, on sophisticated innovations.

SCHEU-DENTAL has been at its current

location in Iserlohn since 1964. The

facility has been extended four times.

Today more than 80 people work at the

Iserlohn site, in a wide variety of trades

and professions: dental technicians,

electricians, engineers, technical

draughtsmen, toolmakers, fitters and

administrative staff – all giving their best

every day of the week.

The team also gathers new ideas and

know-how by working together with

external consultants from the fields of

dental medicine, orthodontics and

materials science.

Today the long-established company is

in the hands of the third generation, in

the person of Christian Scheu. Under his

leadership, innovative dental sleep medi-

cine was added to the range to establish

a third major pillar of the business. And

it was also him, who oversaw the latest

expansion of the SCHEU product family

into fixed treatment articles, with the

acquisition of orthodontics specialist

Smile-Dental GmbH in late 2006.

As a result, SCHEU-DENTAL will be able

to offer an even wider range of products

in future.

Yesterday, today, tomorrow

Innovation and quality

All SCHEU products are manufactured

in Iserlohn, and only a small number of

them can be produced completely by

machine.

"People mould things" is applied literally,

and hand-crafting is a key element in

achieving the high levels of product

quality. "Many geometries are so com-

plex that the precision work can really

only be done manually", explains

Christian Scheu. That is the only way to

ensure such high quality, accompanied

by routine product monitoring. All the

company's employees are aware of the

highly challenging nature of their work,

and they respond to those challenges

every day.

Solid evidence of the particularly high

quality of SCHEU products is furnished

by the first BIOSTAR® units, some of

which have already been working

perfectly for more than 40 years on.

Quality management has been a major

area of focus at SCHEU since well before

it was laid down as mandatory in the

EU Medical Products Directive. As far

back as 1996 – two years earlier than

required – SCHEU became one of the

first dental companies in Germany to

certify its operations. Since then, external

auditors have visited Iserlohn every year

to inspect the high standards of produc-

tion and verify the level of quality

maintained by the company as a whole.

Equipment and accessories for pressure

moulding technique, clasps, wires and

screws for orthodontics, or rails and

treatment units for dental sleep medicine:

the SCHEU product family is very wide-

ranging. From the SCHEU anchor to the

sixth generation of the BIOSTAR®, it

skilfully combines the tried and proven

with the highly innovative.

In developing new, high-quality products

the SCHEU team works closely with

universities and research bodies. The

management also takes the suggestions

submitted by its own employees very

seriously. And the company's close

relationship with its customers also

regularly generates new ideas.

Page 8: SCHEU Katalog 2012 GBªs.pdforthodontic products, some of which were developed by my grandfather, the company’s founder, Rudolf Scheu, and, above all, on sophisticated innovations.

The services offered by SCHEU-DENTAL

also include an extensive range of training

courses from which you can learn more

about the latest innovative products and

new techniques. We have been holding

these courses on a regular basis for a

number of years, featuring inhouse or

external tutors.

Whether the Workshop "Pressure

Moulding Technique", "CMD Therapy",

"Dental Sleep Medicine" or the

"CA® Splint Therapy" what all the

courses have in common is above all

their direct link to actual practice. And

the concept is a success – as proven by

the many satisfied participants over the

years.

Until today, we had the pleasure to

welcome far more than1000 participants.

Communication is everything

And anyone who still has any queries or

problems can simply contact the SCHEU

team directly:

Our comprehensive internal training

system ensures that all our staff are able

to provide you with the expert advice

and assistance you need at all times.

That is a special concern for Christian

Scheu: "It is of particular importance to

us that all our employees – wherever

they work – have detailed knowledge of

our products."

To ensure SCHEU products arrive safely

at their practice or laboratory desti-

nations, they are carefully packed by

the warehouse staff and dispatched to

more than 100 different countries.

Rudolf Scheu made the first business

contacts outside Germany way back in

the 1950s, and they have since been

continuously enhanced to create a

truly international sales and distribution

network. Nowadays 55 % of SCHEU

products are exported.

Equipment such as the BIOSTAR® is

installed and commissioned into

operation by field sales staff and sales

agents in person, thereby providing you

with a direct, personalised introduction

to the product.

Orthodontics

Quality is not a question of size.

Our first orthodontic product was the

SCHEU anchor; a retention element, still

unsurpassed in terms of quality, work-

manship and spring force.

Today our orthodontic line is supple-

mented and enhanced by innovative

products such as VECTOR® expansion

screws and the CA® splint therapy.

Tried and tested. Our pressure moulding

material has been cell-biology tested at

the University of Heidelberg to DIN

13930 and by the AMES test.

The results clearly show that our mate-

rial is non-mutagenic, non-toxic and

non-irritating to mucous membranes.

In other words: our material is outstan-

dingly bio-friendly!

The barcode on each sheet allows quick

and simple handling.

Stable occlusal holder with sliding arms. By unscrewing thecentering tips, the models can be removed without anydamage and reinserted at any time in exactly the sameposition.

The precise dovetailed guidance avoids twisting of thefixator arms.

Because of the built-in hinge in the upper part of the fixator,grinding-in of functional orthodontic appliances as well asfabrication of bimaxillary functional orthodontic appliancesbecome easier. The models can be taken off the fixator armsand set back exactly by mounting splints which can beattached on the fixator arms.
