a) the fertilisations process in plants,b) the formation of fruits and seeds
Discuss the following:a) the location where fertilisation occurs in flower
b) fertilisation in plantsc) formation of fruits and seeds
y describe the formation of fruits and seeds. Thankful to God

Synthesising the concept of germination of seeds
Dissect a seed longitudinally and identify its structure
using hand lens or microscope.
Collect and interpret data on the following:
a) functions of the different parts of a seed , i.e , theembryo (radicle, plumule and cotyledons) and
testa, protected by the pericarp (fruit wall)
b) physical changes of seedlings in terms of the
development of radicle , plumule and cotyledon.
Carry out small group discussions to:
a) identify the variables related to the germination of seeds
b) formulate hypotheses about the conditionsrequired for the germination of seeds.
Design and carry out experiments to determine theconditions required for the germination of seeds.
A student is able to:
y identify the structure of a seed
y explain the functions of the different parts
of a seed
y describe the physical changes of seedlings during germination
y make hypotheses on the condition
required for the germination of seeds
y design an experiment to study thecondition required for the germination of
seeds
y carry out the experiment to study the
condition required for the germination of seeds
y draw conclusions on the condition
required for the germination of seeds

Application of vegetativeproduction in floweringplants
Carry out a study of the vegetative reproduction of
various plants in a nursery to identify the types of vegetative reproduction.
Discuss what vegetative reproduction is.
Discuss the application of research carried out in
vegetative reproduction in agriculture.
A student is able to:
y explain with examples the meaning of vegetative reproduction
y state the parts of the plants that can
reproduce vegetatively
y classify flowering plants according to the
parts that can reproduce vegetatively.
y Describe the application of research
carried out in vegetative reproduction inagriculture.

Carry out a multimedia presentation on thedevelopments in the field of astronomy and space
exploration.
y justify the need to continue space
exploration.
