RULES & REGULATIONS
1. All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor on his/her own premises, or on land in his/her own occupation for at least three months previous to the Show. Any exhibitor infringing this rule will be disqualified from receiving any prizes. This rule applies to the Chrysanthemum Classes and the autumn produce.
2. No exhibitor shall be awarded more than one prize in the same Class, therefore only one entry per Class will be allowed, except where a multiple entry is indicated.
3. All entries must be made on or before Thursday 24th October 2019.
4. All exhibits must be staged for the Judges by 10.30 a.m., when the
hall will be cleared and only those officially engaged will be allowed inside. The hall will be open for the reception of exhibits from 8.00 a.m. No exhibits shall be removed before the presentation of awards without the written consent of the Committee.
5. The decision of the Judges shall be final. They have the power to
withhold any prize, or prizes, if in their opinion there are not sufficient exhibits, or the standard reached is not high enough, or the rules have been infringed.
6. Exhibitors must show the exact number of specimens mentioned in
the Schedule, or they will be disqualified.
7. Any protest must be made in writing and lodged with the Secretary by 3.30 p.m. on the day of the Show, accompanied by a fee of £1, which sum will be forfeited if the objection is considered frivolous. In the event of any dispute as to the qualification of the exhibitor to compete, the decision of the Committee shall be final.
8. Every possible care will be taken of exhibits but the Committee will
not hold itself responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.
9. Points marking in all classes are: 1st – 5, 2nd – 3, 3rd – 1.

13. SEASON OF PUMPKINS AND YELLOW FRUITFULNESS! A pumpkin, squash, gourd ( or similar family). Big, small, knobbly, or unusual – will be judge’s choice. Multiple entries at 30p each allowed.

FLORAL ARRANGEMENT SECTION
Open Classes: Entry Fee 50p per class
Staged on tabling with white covering, some in mid-grey alcoves with matching bases. `Exhibits` may include accessories (ie non-plant material items) as appropriate, but plant material should always predominate. Drapes, bases, backboards and title cards are optional but must be relevant and immaculate! Please note new sizes and space allowed! Class 1st 2nd 3rd 14.
‘TIS THE SEASON An exhibit in any styling, featuring garden plant materials, staged in an alcove, space allowed 81cm wide x 78cm deep, height 78cm.

‘REMEMBER, REMEMBER….’ An all-round exhibit in modern / contemporary styling, staged on open tabling, viewed and judged all round, space allowed 61 x 61cm, height unlimited.

TALES FROM THE WOODS An interpretative exhibit portraying any myth, legend or story associated with the Forest of Dean, with a title (judged as part of the exhibit), staged in an alcove, space allowed 81cm wide x 78cm, 78cm height. FAIRYLAND An all-round petite exhibit, staged on open tabling, judged all round, not to exceed 25cm wide x 25cm deep x 37cm height.

18. A COOK’S POSY
A hand-tied posy to include cut fresh herbs, suitable flowers and maybe dried spices and other ‘ingredients’, presented in a clear glass container, with stems in water, to reveal a decorative tying method. On open tabling, viewed and judged all round. Tip – cut herbs need careful conditioning.

CLASS 36 – RECIPE
SOMERSET APPLE CAKE Ingredients 75g/ 3oz butter 175g / 6oz caster sugar 1 orange rind, grated 225g / 8oz self-raising flour 450g / 1 lb apples (eg. Bramley ) peeled, cored and cubed. 2 eggs, beaten 2 tablespoons milk 25g / 1oz candied peel, chopped About 1 tablespoon granulated sugar Method
1. Grease and line a 23cm (9 inch) cake tin. 2. Cream butter, sugar and orange rind and beat until light and creamy. 3. Mix 1 tablespoon of flour with the apples in a dish. 4. Put eggs and milk in bowl with the creamed butter. 5. Add remaining flour, candied peel and apples to the creamed mixture and
blend well with a metal spoon. 6. Turn into prepared tin, sprinkle with granulated sugar. 7. Bake in a moderate oven, Gas 4, 180ºc for 40 to 50 minutes until golden
brown.
