ABOUT US
THE ULTIMATE WAY TO GET IN SHAPE WITH OUTDOOR TRAINING
Based in Sweden’s Lapland – this is Europe’s first purpose built Boot Camp. Located some
50 kms north of the Arctic Circle, surrounded by stunning natural beauty, majestic forests and the Torne River, which separates Sweden from Finland. Here you will train and eat healthily, take part in lectures and experience team building. At Scandinavian Boot Camp you will change your life style.
NEWFOR 2015
02/ISSUE:2/www.scandinavianbootcamp.com
The remote location of the Boot Camp eliminates the temptation of bars, restaurants, shops and nightclubs – enabling you to completely focus on your fitness goal. Attracting visitors not only from Sweden, but from across the globe, Scandinavian Boot Camp encourages diverse training activities each week, using as many as 54 professional trainers from Sweden, Germany and the UK, giving a vast range of expertise.
The Summer Boot Camp will allow you to see the Midnight Sun circling the sky above the horizon night and day. By not disappearing below the horizon, it will extend your days and give you those extra hours. Due to the axial tilt of the Earth, and the high latitude of the Laplandic region where Scandinavian Boot Camp is based, the sun never sets in the summer. This amazing experience only occurs north of the Arctic Circle and is truly enjoyed by everyone.
If you decide to visit the camp during the colder months, Lapland has something very special to show you – the Northern Lights. The solar winds send charged particles towards the earth and, colliding with the atmosphere, they produce energy given off as light. This happens around 200 nights a year and is visible in the region of northern Lapland on cold, clear nights.
Even though it’s slightly too chilly for outside training, there are still plenty of things to keep you busy at the Winter Boot Camp. Book in for the Lapland Wilderness package and experience ice fishing, snowmobile and trekking in the forest. If you prefer a little more action, then try the 5-day Bird or Moose Hunting package, to get the feeling of being a real Laplandic hunter. Still want to exercise although the temperature can sink to minus 15°C? Don’t miss out on a week of Cross Country Skiing with our qualified ski instructors. Don’t forget to finish the day with a hot sauna!
In other words, we provide something for everyone at Scandinavian Boot Camp – summer or winter – whether you wish to build muscle, improve your condition or lose that extra bit of weight, or would simply like to stay at our lodge and enjoy a few days of activities and excellent food.
All ages 18+, male and female, all fitness levels. If you have any special requirements or require more information, please contact us.

If you love the adrenaline rush from your training, you will always be challenged by the exercises in CrossFit Holistic. It will not only be exhausting on all levels, but will also bring you into a whole new realm of calorie burning.
Workouts like this keep you lean and looking good. Combining strength, cardio and suspension training, using rigs, kettle bells, ropes and free weights – it will give you the ultimate fat burning experience.
This type of training energises you, although you might feel faint at first (it may seem crazy to say but this exercise actually gives you more energy!) CrossFit Holistic is also very popular with women, who sometimes feel a little intimidated about this kind of exercise, and training alongside men.

practice how to act in sparring situations and the psychological element in daring a spar. You will also develop your technology in the clinch and strength training.
Advanced Group and Event GroupHere you will have mastered the basic techniques and are now training at a more advanced level. Responsibility for physio and cardio is more on the individual and to train more advanced techniques and movements. The training and sparring are at a higher and more demanding level and put even more focus on balance and technique. You set high standards of self-discipline. The competition group requires highly developed techniques and it takes a lot of exercising in terms of sparring skills, fitness, commitment and desire. Exercise is the focus of running and interval training. Training in this group is designed to prepare participants for competitions, both nationally and internationally. Fighters from Muay Thai Boot Camp also participated in Championships in European and K1.
Thai Boxing is the ultimate form of exercise, whether you want to get in shape in a fun and effective way, or if you bet on that race. It’s fun, challenging, diverse, and both mentally and physically stimulating. To make the Muay Thai experience more authentic, two guest Thai Fighters will be invited to help develop skills and enhance the training.
Training requires energy so it’s important to eat the right type of food before exercise. The major source of fuel is carbohydrate, which gets stored in the muscles as glycogen. A Thai chef will be on site to create meals which have fuelled champion fights throughout the East and also bring ethnicity to your experience.

Having spent many years within specialist units with the British Military across the world, Aaron Murphy, David Mcintosh and Jamie Spencer have gained a great wealth of knowledge about how to push the human body to limits above and beyond what ever could be expected, not only in the physical sense but also mentally.
Forget the gym and your nice cosy surroundings – you will be outside no matter what the weather brings. The mission objective is to get you lean, mean and mentally tough enough, to take on any challenge you come across and Aaron and David will do this by any means necessary.
A little taster of some of the things you are likely to be greeted with at Military Boot Camp is sledge drags, tyre flipping, wagon pushing, hill sprints – basically whatever the trainers can get their solid hands on, you are going to face it and overcome it.

Scott has always been into fitness, but like most people, found it hard to avoid a bar of chocolate (make that 3!) or one too many drinks at the weekend. It is difficult to look up at a giant mountain and wonder how you are going to climb it.
In 2008, Scott bought his own gym and moved into fitness full-time, helping the likes of TV star Kerry Katona and X Factor and Happy Mondays singer Rowetta, plus various friends from Coronation Street and Emmerdale to hit their targets. One of his own ambitions was to prove that in only a short space of time you could achieve something truly staggering with only sound knowledge and a bit of discipline.

23RD – 30TH AUG 2015
Get ready for the Yoga Boot Camp and DETOX Boot Camp! This week will give you the experience of a lifetime, offering both yoga classes and hot yoga twice a day. There will be a variety of yoga techniques during the week, with a variety of skilled yoga instructors.
Hot Yoga became popular some years ago and Scandinavian Boot Camp has naturally picked up on the trend. The Hot Yoga classes will be held in smaller groups in a studio. The yoga is performed under hot and humid conditions of 40.6°C with a humidity of 40%. This is often associated with the style devised by the creators of Bikram Yoga.
The classes run for 90 minutes and use heat to increase the flexibility in each of the 26 poses performed, together with two different breathing exercises. When practising Hot Yoga the focus is not to heat up the body more than 42°C. This allows the body to start a detox process, which is great for both body and mind.

While enjoying the Hot Yoga classes, you will also be able to experience Yin Yoga, which has the same goals as any other school of yoga, but targets the connective tissues, such as ligaments, bones and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in other types of yoga.
Yin Yoga is suitable for all levels and a great complement to other more dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga practised at the camp.
As a happy camper, you will also get the unique experience of how it is to yoga outside, benefiting from the fresh Swedish Lapland air and the views of untouched green nature.
During this week at the Boot Camp, the menu in the restaurant will consist mainly of vegetarian food, at times complemented with fish or chicken.
Some meals will also be “raw” food, a fairly new style of cooking.

When you come to Fitness Training Boot Camp you can expect a total body workout in every session. It generally involves some light cardio warm ups to increase the blood flow to the muscle, followed by a full body stretch.
From there, we go straight into increasing the heart rate through a range of cardiovascular exercises including sprints, aerobic training, interval training, agility work and interactive games. This is the part of the training to combat fat loss, increase your fitness levels and strengthen your heart muscles. You will also sweat a lot during the training!!
Strength training will probably be the part people enjoy most as they can really feel those muscles burning. It involves a huge variety of workouts in every class, from squats to lunges, targeting the bum and upper thighs, close and wide grip press ups for the chest, to mention but a few. Then there are the back and triceps muscles, bicep workouts and free weights and many other challenging forms of training.

In every class, we also target those stubborn abs muscles. We generally do a full core blast workout, which will have your abs and obliques rock solid. This is a tough workout but when you put in the effort, the rewards are really worth it.
We also allow a few breaks during our Boot Camps to take on some fluids but we will try getting maximum effort from all our clients. People come to Boot Camp for many different reasons but the most important thing is that you enjoy yourself. Exercise should be challenging but fun and we promise that you will find this throughout your Fitness Boot Camp Training.

For the first time ever, WBFF Pro winners Sergi Constance and Jaco De Bruyn will be holding their very own fitness and training boot camp. This will be a week long residential training programme, where the guys will put you through your passes and allow you into their world of training and fitness. Not only will the training be devised, but also the meals and nutrition. The first day of arrival will be on a Sunday and that will be a rest day and then from Monday through to Saturday – total focus.
Scandinavian Boot Camp in Swedish Lapland is a great isolated location. No distraction, no shops or bars, just total concentration of your body and mind. The gym has been taken out side, so all training exercises will be open air. Lots of rigs, weights and functional training equipment. Note with an open-air gym, if it rains you still hit the weights. The added bonus of this Boot Camp is that there will be 24 hours of total day light though the summer period. Your body and mind will not know what’s hit it.
Sergi Constance is WBFF’s newest Muscle Model Pro, a title he claimed in Denmark in May 2014. At only 25 years of age, this Spanish fitness superstar is also a former winner in the Muscle & Fitness Cover Model search at the Las Vegas Olympia, and he has

Jaco de Bruyn is the top South African fitness model who has shaken up the fitness world with his extreme physique, ripped body and trimmed torso. In 2009 he won the title of Mr Pretoria and was the first runner up in Mr South Africa the same year. Jaco also took home the title of WBFF Pro 2013 and won the Mr Physique Body beautiful two consecutive years running – 2011 and 2012.

To complement this training week with the right foods, the SBC kitchen will serve a special diet based meals consisting of a lot of eggs and egg whites, lean proteins like chicken and tuna together with green vegetables. The Combat Challenge Training is an empowering cardio workout where you totally unleash. This energetic programme is inspired by Martial Arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as Tai Chi, Karate, Boxing and Taekwondo. Motivating music will support the programme with Pontus instructing – you will strike, kick and punch your way to super fitness.
Throughout the week, Pontus will also introduce kick ass TRX Suspension Training moves that will give you the muscle building workout you crave.
ViPR sessions will be introduced for loaded movement training. ViPR creator Michol Dalcourt invented ViPR after observing the way farm kids were always stronger in sport than kids who had grown up in cities and only trained in gyms.
The ViPR bar is made of rubber, which comes in several weights ranging from 4 to 20 kg and even more for the pro trainer. It can be carried, dragged, thrown, flipped, rolled and stepped on and is a great form of exercise for the whole body.

The kettle bell will be something you will not be able to get away from, for it’s ideal for explosive exercises, working major muscle groups. Burn body fat and build muscle – this will be done in the form of circuit training. You pick the weight that you are comfortable with and the kettle bell will challenge you. This will really work your core.
Box/Kick BoxFor those of you ready to push your boundaries, your training programme for the week will include Kick Box with a blend of strikes together with interval training. With punches, jabs, crosses, hooks, and upper cuts, you can expect to be exhausted.
Yoga with Leon MartiniBe present and determined – get rewarded with higher body awareness! Yoga joins together the physical and mental levels through movement and breathing.
During the week, we will deepen our understanding about breathing and postures, which has become the most common way to see and use yoga in western countries.Through static and dynamic yoga postures we aim towards a deeper stretch and lengthening, making us stronger and more limber in our everyday life.
We will target the essential parts of our body like the core, where almost every movement has its origin, and work our way through challenging arm balances and fun inversions. Join us for an unforgettable journey that will hopefully leave you with a new way of thinking about ordinary fitness training.

At Scandinavian Boot Camp we take pride in serving the very best gastronomic food possible – based
on prime raw products from the north of Sweden. Not only is it smart to take nature and the environment into consideration, using locally produced products eliminates long, unnecessary food transportation.
Modern research about food and health advises us to eat a wide range of different victuals, cooked in healthy ways. The Nordic kitchen gives just that.
The perfectly-balanced menu at SBC is devised by Danièl Rougè Madsen, one of Norway’s top chefs. He has worked at some of the world`s best restaurants, such as Michelin starred Waterside Inn in London and Le Moulin in France. Working together with a qualified dietician, our chef Daniel offers the very best nutritional food, to allow your body to get the maximum results from your training.
As most people know, training and eating healthily go hand-in-hand. So at a Boot Camp, it’s not all about exercise, but also about changing your lifestyle, including when it comes to food as well.

KRUSH BAR
If you wish to complement the meals at the camp with an extra energising kick, what better place than the SBC Krush Bar?
Here you can enjoy a wide range of freshly pressed juices, smoothies and healthy shots. All are packed with the nutrients that only 100% pure fresh fruit and vegetables provide. Why not try a “Green Goddess”, with apple, kiwi, lime, pear, spinach and celery? Or cleanse your body with the detox juice “Veggie Green” containing kale, spinach, lime, celery and cucumber?
For the camper who wishes to stick to more original, single juices, there are apple, orange or carrot juices available – to mention but a few.
If you have a bit of a sweet tooth then there are still plenty of different choices on the menu. Take the chance to try a “Mango Madness”, “Crushberry Blast” or a classic “Strawberry Cool”.
There will be something for every palate!
Our trainers, chef and dietician will teach campers about nutrition and how to adopt a healthy eating routine, one that will be easy to keep up once they leave the Camp and into the future.
If you have a dietary or special need – just let us know. Danièl will do his utmost to tailor individual dishes to cater for all requirements.
Happy campers will be able to enjoy three meals a day, all prepared and cooked in a wholesome way, with lots of greens and vegetables, lean proteins and good, slow releasing carbohydrates. In addition to this, SBC will offer snack bars and protein shakes.
So although there will be no sticky puddings or raspberry jelly for dessert – you will always leave the SBC Resto with a contented stomach.

dinavian Boot Camp
In order to create food and meals with a professional health aspect, Scandinavian Boot Camp has its very own dietician –
Johanna Törmä, who has calculated the different nutrients in everything that is served. A menu that is based on healthy and organically-inspired food from the north gives you the very best nutrition.
Nutritional Science studies how the body breaks food down (catabolism) and repairs and creates cells and tissue (anabolism) – catabolism and anabolism = metabolism. Nutritional Science also examines how the body responds to food. In other words, “Nutritional Science investigates the metabolic and physiological responses of the body to diet”.
As molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics advance, nutrition has become more focused on the steps of biochemical sequences through which substances inside us and other living organisms are transformed from one form to another – metabolism and metabolic pathways.
As well as being a qualified dietician, Johanna also has a Masters Degree in the Philosophy of Food and Nutrition and has been invited to several Universities to lecture, both in Sweden and abroad. Johanna is currently a postgraduate at the University of Uppsala and has also published several journals about nutritional intake, with a focus on elderly people, during her career.

Kardis Village, with its untouched nature, deep forests and exceptional landscape, is situated 50 kms north
of the Arctic Circle.
The village only hosts about 110 residents all year round, but is a very popular and well-loved summer destination, where a lot of people have their holiday home.
1997 was the celebration of a 400 year anniversary for Kardis, being one of the oldest villages around the area Tornedalen, the northern part of Lapland. The very first inhabitant of Kardis settled in the village as early as 1596.
The river which runs along the village is called Torne River, and separates Sweden from Finland. If you fancy a swim – then you need to head to Kardis beach. Although it is not for the faint hearted – the water can be pretty chilly!
The nearest larger town to Kardis is Pajala, where you will find shops, food stores, restaurants and petrol stations, but it is still fairly basic.
HISTORY
The first car to ride the streets of Kardis was an Essex Super Six, back in 1925.
