PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT

Kindergarten: Enroll your child in Scammon's Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year. Please come to the main office the week of April 29 to enroll.

Pre-K: Visit chicagoearlylearning.org after April 29 to begin the applicat ion for Pre-K at Scammon. If you have quest ions, call the Chicago Early Learning Hotline at (312) 229-1690.

SPORTS UPDATE THE LION KING

KEY DATES

Scammon hosted our annual Talent Show on April 11th and 12th. It was an incredible show with a large variety of performances. Students sang solos as well as in groups. This year we saw a lot of students performing on instruments. We were so proud to see them accompanying their peers or themselves on piano, ukulele, cajon, and guitar. At the show, we had many dancers, including an incredible closing act by our Dance Club, which was a huge hit ! There was an original song performed on piano, We had another comedy act that had our audiences giggling and laughing! Overall, we are incredibly proud of our students and their work and courage to perform.

Scammon students have been working t irelessly on Scammon's first ever Disney Product ion of The Lion King. The hard work and dedicat ion have been paying off. 5th grade Gianpiere L. boasts of the show, "Its been a lot of work but its really fun because it 's helped everyone use their voice so they won't be afraid to talk in front of people." Scammon has seen many from the community step forward, offering a helping hand in any way they can, including creat ing amazing set designs. Students will all have an opportunity to see this show on Thursday, May 9 or Friday, May 10. Tickets are also available for purchase so families can join in the fun and attend an afternoon showing on Thursday, May 9. Please keep an eye out for t icket order forms!

GRADUATION

8th Grade Graduat ion will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 9:00 a.m. at Carl Schurz High School located at 3601 N. Milwaukee Ave.

NWEA TESTING

End of the year testing will begin for students

on May 13 and continue through June 14.

Students in grades Kindergarten- 8th will be

tested in Reading and Math during this time.

Please make sure your child eats a good

breakfast and gets a good night sleep before

their testing days!

FECHAS IMPORTANTES

Scammon llevó a cabo el Show anual de talentos el 11 y 12 de abril. Fué un espectáculo increíble con una gran variedad de actuaciones. Los estudiantes cantaban solos, así como en grupos. Este año vimos a muchos estudiantes tocando instrumentos. Estamos muy orgullosos de verlos acompañando a sus compañeros o solos en el piano, el ukelele, el cajón y la guitarra. En el show, tuvimos muchos bailarines, incluido un increíble acto de cierre de nuestro Club de baile, ¡Fué un gran éxito! Hubo una canción original interpretada en el piano. ¡Tuvimos un acto de comedia que hizo que nuestro público riera y riera! En general, estamos increíblemente orgullosos de nuestros estudiantes y de su trabajo y valor para realizarlos.

Los estudiantes de Scammon han trabajado incansablemente en la primera producción de Scammon en Disney de El rey león. El t rabajo duro y la dedicación han estado dando sus frutos. Gianpiere L., de quinto grado, comenta del programa: "Ha sido mucho trabajo, pero es realmente divert ido porque ayudó a todos a usar su voz para que no tengan miedo de hablar delante de la gente". Scammon ha visto a muchos miembros de la comunidad dar un paso adelante, ofreciendo una mano de ayuda en todo lo que pueden, incluida la creación de diseños asombrosos. Todos los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de ver este espectáculo el jueves 9 de mayo o el viernes 10 de mayo. GRADUACION

La graduación de 8vo grado se llevará a cabo el jueves 20 de junio a las 9:00 a.m. en la escuela Carl Schurz High School ubicada en 3601 N. Milwaukee Ave.

PRUEBAS NWEA

Las pruebas de fin de año para los estudiantes

comenzarán el 13 de mayo y continuarán hasta

el 14 de junio. Los estudiantes en los grados

Kindergarten-8vo se evaluarán en lectura y

matemáticas durante este tiempo. ¡Por favor,

asegúrese de que su hijo coma un buen

desayuno y duerma bien antes de sus

exámenes!
