INTRODUCTIONData Center

• A facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems

• Data Center networking means Interconnecting of tens of thousands of servers in a data center

• Result of need for a secure space to manage information such as saving, classifying, retrieving and disseminating the information

Scalable and Cost Effective Inter Connection of Data Center - Requires expensive high end switches.

- Needs additional hardware and wires. - Cannot be afforded by Small Companies Only 50%of aggregate bandwidth is available.

Data Center networking are not Scalable and Cost Effective

•PROBLEM STATEMENT

Page 4: Scalable and Cost Effective interconnection of Data-Center Servers Using Dual Server Ports

• Consists of tree of routing and switching elements

• More progressive and expensive as we move up the network hierarchy

• Resulting topologies may only support 50% of the aggregate bandwidth available

• Complicated application design

•EXISTING TECHNOLOGIES

Page 5: Scalable and Cost Effective interconnection of Data-Center Servers Using Dual Server Ports

• Servers comes with two Ethernet ports one for back up and other for network connection

• In FiConn ,both Ethernet ports are actively used.• Low commodity switches for reducing cost.• Low overhead traffic aware routing mechanism.• Highly scalable for hundreds of thousands of servers.• Effective for small companies.

PROPOSED SYSTEMFiConn – A scalable and cost effective solution for

network interconnecting.

PROPOSED SYSTEM• Fat-Tree structure with N=4 . It has three levels of switches.

FiConn ALGORITHM

For creating a complete Ficonn we use bottom up approach of algorithm 1

RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

Page 11: Scalable and Cost Effective interconnection of Data-Center Servers Using Dual Server Ports

Advantages

• FiConn defines a recursive network structure in levels lower-level• FiConns use half of their available backup ports for interconnections and form a mesh.• This way, the number of servers in FiConn, grows double-

exponentially with FiConn levels.• FiConn has the lowest deploying cost and wiring effort

Page 12: Scalable and Cost Effective interconnection of Data-Center Servers Using Dual Server Ports

Disadvantages

• Downside on all-to-all throughput

• Inter track wiring is relatively challenging

• FiConn of n=42 contains 361200 servers

• For this it needs long distance fibres

CONCLUSION

• FiConn helps in faster data transfer through networking at comparatively low cost.

• Utilizes the dual-port configuration existing in most commodity data-center server machines and no extra hardware is needed.

• It is cost-effective because it requires less number of switches and links

• Designed traffic-aware routing in FiConn to make better utilization at busy hours.

FUTURE SCOPE

• There is a trend to modernize data center networking by cloud computing

• It will increase the performance and energy efficiency of data structures

• This process is also known as data center transformation
