The term is almost at an end! As you can see from the upcoming events, it is

certainly going to be a busy end to the term.

Swim Camp Cos�ng

Due to my absence yesterday, we have been delayed in finalising the costs for

Swim Camp 2017. Mrs Berry and I want to ensure that these are accurate before

providing the informa'on to parents. These will be out in the coming days along

with the camp booklets and consent forms. I apologise for any inconvenience.

Numero

Well done to the students from Years 4, 5 and 6 who represented our school

with pride at the recent Interschool Numero Compe''on. They demonstrated

excellence when par'cipa'ng in the Numero challenges, games and scramble.

Out of the 17 teams from across the district that competed one of the teams

placed 4th

overall. Each of the compe'tors will be presented with a ‘showbag’

from R.I.C. Publica'ons at Thursday’s assembly. Well done, Scaddan!

Assembly and Three-Way Conferences

This Thursday 7 September is going to be a busy one! Star'ng at 2pm we will

have our last assembly for the term. Parents are asked to bring a plate for a

shared a6ernoon tea (with ingredients labelled), held in the library, that will roll

through the Three-Way Conferences that will commence at 2:30pm. Parents are

reminded that the purpose of this conference is for the student, in an age

appropriate way, to discuss their achievements over the year and set learning

goals. If a formal interview is required, please book a 'me with your child’s

teacher.

A slip has been sent home in your child’s diary today confirming your 'me. If you

are yet to make an appointment, please do so ASAP to ensure that both teachers

and students have 'me to prepare.

Nature Playground

Our nature playground plans are coming to life! We are looking at ge=ng things

underway very soon. Jane and Sco? Wandel will have the plan marked out for

interested parents to look at and discuss further on Thursday.

Bandwidth Upgrade

I am pleased to announce that Telstra and the Educa'on Department have completed work on our internet

bandwidth and switched it on last Wednesday. This means that our internet speed has progressed from

1mbps download/upload speed to 10mbps. The speed at which webpages and videos are loading in class is

incredible!

Police Remembrance Day Ceremony

Our students will be performing the ‘Australian Na'onal Anthem’ and ‘I Believe I Can Fly’ at the Police

Remembrance Day Ceremony next Thursday 14 September. A note will be sent home tomorrow to provide

more informa'on and transport arrangements.

School Uniform

The P&C have been inves'ga'ng new style of shirt that could form part of the school uniform. The pictures

below show the one style of shirt, on offer at a local supplier, in a boys and girls range. The P&C would

appreciate feedback from all parents. The shirts will be on display at the assembly on Thursday for

interested parents to look at. If a decision is made to change the style of shirt, this will need to be endorsed

by the School Council.

Woolworths Earn & Learn 2017

This year we will be participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. Through this program we will be able to get new educational resources for our school/early learning centre – and all we need you to do is shop for your groceries at Woolworths. From Wednesday 26th July to Tuesday 19th September, we are collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers. You will get one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco and gift cards). Place the Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when it’s complete, the Sticker Sheet can be dropped into the Collection Box here at the school or at your local Woolworths.

At the end of the promotion, we’ll be able to get some great new equipment. The range is extensive and offers lots of items ideal for our students – including resources for Maths, English, Science and some fantastic fun supplies for Arts & Craft, Sport and for our library. Laraine Doney our gardener of 40 years is re'ring and we are hoping to reach as many of

her past students or colleagues as possible to share their memories.

Mrs Laraine Doney is officially re'ring during next term. She is currently away on Long

Service Leave and will re're when she returns. Mrs Doney has been a huge part of our

school over the past 40 years. Her dedica'on to our school grounds and her support for

our school is hugely appreciated. To ensure we are able to celebrate her 'me and

commitment at our school I would like to put together a momento book that will provide

the opportunity for a li?le walk down memory lane.

In order to do this I am looking for any photos parents, community members or old

students may have with Laraine during her 'me at the school. I am also seeking any

memories or stories people are willing to share in the book about their experience with

Laraine at the school.
