Conrad Miami

SB Architects acted as architect-of-record for

the public spaces of this urban luxury hotel, which

is an integral component of Espirito Santo Plaza, a

mixed-use highrise development in downtown

Miami. SB Architects worked directly with The

Gettys Group to create the new hotel within the

existing perameters of a 36-story glass tower

designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF).

The hotel spans the 10th through 25th floors, with

additional conference facilities on the third floor.

The nine floors below the hotel house 30,000 square

feet of class “A” office space, with a condo hotel

occupying the 11 floors above.

Brought on board with construction already well

underway, SB Architects and Gettys faced the

significant challenge of designing to stringent

4½-star standards without a specific brand initially

identified, all within the confines of an existing

building structure.

Anassa Hotel & Spa

This five-star resort sits on a rise overlooking

a pristine beach, with sweeping views of the

Mediterranean Sea. The main hotel - with its

magnificent rotunda - is surrounded by luxury vil-

las that step down to the sea, giving the impres-

sion of the collection of smaller structures that

form a Mediterranean hill town.

Authenticity and sophisticated luxury were the

project's primary design goals. The architecture

is an elegant interpretation of the traditional

Greek Cypriot vernacular, with whitewashed

walls, low-pitched tile roofs, simple massing and

clean details. Particular attention was paid to

the seamless integration of the architecture,

landscape architecture and interior design to

create a strongly unified experience for guests

of the resort.

the residential towers will rise to 37 and 45

stories. Loft-style residential units will also wrap

around the central parking core.

Atop the parking podium, a lushly-landscaped

pool deck and recreation area will provide private

outdoor space, as well as city and ocean views.

Developed to attract young professionals

working and living downtown, the residential

Dorado Beach, a Ritz Carlton Reserve

This unique resort will soon take shape on the site of

the former Dorado Beach Hotel, a playground for rich

and famous originally developed by Laurance Rockefeller.

Dorado Beach, a threeand-a-half-mile sweep of

coastline, is considered one of the most desirable and

naturally beautiful destinations in the Caribbean.

This new Ritz-Carlton Reserve is being designed to

provide six-star accommodations with an eye toward

sustainability and stewardship of the land. The design is

a contemporary interpretation of island architecture,

driven in great part by the use of organic and indigenous

materials. The primary arrival building is oriented on axis

with a natural rock outcropping extending into the sea.

Hotel guest rooms are in smaller, low-rise buildings sited

along the beach for maximum exposure and views.

A spectacular beachfront amenities building, and a spa

with an inwardly focused water environment and

individual treatment pavilions, complete the resort. A

large residential ownership component will also be part

of the overall resort development.
