The change we plan to bring about in the community:

To encourage village farmers and community for using no pesticides and using organic

fertilizers like composting and vermi composting.

• Bharti Foundation

– Bharti Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Bharti Group Companies.

– The Foundation aims to help underprivileged children and young people of our country realize their potential.

• Satya Bharti School Program

– The Satya Bharti School Program is the flagship program of Bharti Foundation.

– It aims to deliver free quality education to underprivileged children, with special focus on the girl child across rural India.

– The program goal is to establish 500 Primary and 50 Senior Schools reaching out to over 200,000 students

– The promise of this large scale program, through its operation, is to create a replicable, scalable and holistic model of quality education in rural India

– Present Operational Status:

• Number of Schools Operational: 254

• States of Operation: Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Tamil Nadu

• Number of Students Enrolled: Over 35,000

• Geographical Location Gomla is situated at a distance of 13 km from

State Highway Rewari to Narnaul of Satya Bharti’s District office at Rewari.

About the Community

- This village is on first position in Haryana State. It is awarded Nirmal Village by Govt.

- There are two parks and open air theatre in the centre of the village.

• People of this village are dependent on agriculutre. The main source of their livelihood is farming.

About the Community

• Cultural Background:

– Majority of the population belongs to Hindu community .They followed Hindu customs and traiditions.

- women dressing style is Ghagra, Odhni/ Saree.

- Dhoti, Kurta, Turban, Piajama, Pant and shirt for Men.

• Now a days people of community are falling in diseases and there are lack of nutrients in their food and diet due to pesticides.

We ‘Felt’:

• Use of these pesticides has spoiled all of the nutrients from food , vegetables and grains.

• Some pesticides used in the fields are very dangerous not only for the animals but also for human beings.

• These pesticides have given us many harmful diseases like cancer, heart attack and blood pressure.

• Healthy environment and healthy food among community people.

• Can awake the people to use no pesticides and using vermi composting for farming.

• We can make the people feel to get rid of the pesticides and get fresh crops along with other agro products.

• Can awake the people against the harmful diseases due to pesticides.

We ‘Imagined’

We ‘Did’:

• Rally across the community through children drive with slogans.

• Community motivation through convincing home visit and group meeting.

• Exhibition of using no pesticides through slogans and charts.

• Demo before the villagers ‘ effect of pesticides’.

•Acquaint the community people with the ill-effects of pesticides.

We ‘Did’:

• Community people participated in our mission of “SAY NO TO PESTICIDES”.

• They learnt these pesticides are really destroying nutrients from our food, vegetables and also granting many harmful diseases slow and slow.

• They became aware of the little benefits and more ill effects of pesticides .

• They participated in an oath taking mission to use no pesticides as much as possible.

Impact on Community:

• It was a nice exposure for us.• We shall never use pesticides

among crops and vegetables.• We knew to develop vermi

composting which is too interesting for us.

- We, staff members got appreciation when most of the village farmers and community members reached at the point that they will never use pesticides among fields and vegetables.

- Now they grow crops and vegetables without use of pesticides.

• Follow-up to the mission through discussions in PTM and home visits.

• More knowledge will be acquired and imparted on the same topic.

• Try to liaison with the village farmers, community and encourage them for using no pesticides.
