What we do in our free time

Via Pia is a narrow street where there are shops, cafes and 400 years old historical palaces. In via Pia there are the most fashionable shops like Beach & Co. and Bonichi. On Saturdays we like going there and have fun. Near Via Pia there’s a picture gallery where we go to learn something about paintings . There is a bookshop too.

Piazza Sisto IV

We also go to piazza Sisto which is a square where the teenagers meet to talk and spend time together. In Piazza Sisto there is the Town Hall. Especially in summer there are lots of concerts in the square.

The Cinema

In the centre of the city there’s the Diana Cinema, It has six halls and people go there to watch a good film. We spend a lot of time there at weekends.

The typical foods of Savona

• The typical foods of Savona are the “fette” and the “farinata”. The first ones are made of flour, water, salt and olive oil.

The farinata is made of pepper, salt, flour, water and olive oil. They’re both very good!!

The “chinotto”: a typical drink of Savona

The chinotto is a fruit which is cultivated in Savona. From it you can obtain a very good drink called chinotto too. It’s sold all over Italy and lots of people love it!

Fornaci “Fornaci” is a district of Savona near the sea . There are lots of bath establishments , an primary school, lots of bars, some restaurants and three ice-cream shops. We stay at the beach nearly all summer because we’ve got lots of friends there and we usually have a good time! At Fornaci you can also have a walk and meet friends in winter too.

The Priamar FortressThe Priamar Fortress is a fortress on the hill with the same name above the port of Savona, Liguria, northern Italy.The fortress was built in 1542 by the Republic of Genoa on a promontory where in medieval times was the nucleus of Savona, by design of architect Giovanni Maria Olgiati. In the 17th century the fortress received bastions designed by the Spanish Royal engineer Domenico Sirena, and in the 18th century were added the commissar's, officers' and Sibilla palaces.. During the Risorgimento, Italian patriot Giuseppe Mazzini was jailed in the Priamar Fortress.

Gabriello Chiabrera Theatre

Chiabrera Municipal Theatre is the most beautiful historical theatre in Liguria. Built according to architect Carlo Messina Falconieri’s project, approved by the accademia albertina di “belle arti” of Turin which the municipality of Savona had delegated the choice of the various process, it was built in about three years. It has a capacity of 626 seats.

La Torretta

La Torretta is a symbol of Savona. It’s been built in 1392 and it was a military tower. It’s 23 meters tall.
