Tucson opened its inaugural season with a 65-44 win in San Diego on March 3, and then won 51-31 at home on March 31. Mike Jones109 yards rushing against the Barnstormers last week was the first 100-yard rushing game for the Sugar Skulls. Jones has scored at least two touchdowns in all but one of his seven games played. He was inactive for the Sugar Skullssecond game of the season but has started every other game. Zach Allen is fourth in the league in tackles for loss with 8.5. That includes four sacks which puts him in a tie for fourth place. Marcus Coleman made his coaching debut in indoor football in 2016 as a defensive backs coach with the Tri-Cities Fever. Recognizing his capability and coaching acumen, he was hired the next year to be the defensive coordinator by the Iowa Barnstormers. The Barnstormers had the top ranked defense in the IFL in 2018 on the way to a United Bowl Championship. Coleman was an All-American defensive back at Texas Tech University and played for 11 years in the NFL from 1996 to 2016. He was a fifth-round draft pick of the New York Jets and also played for the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys.
