“Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. (Hebrews 13:1-2). While many issues face us personally, nationally, and globally, there is no issue tugging at my heart more right now than the way migrant children are being torn from their parents at the border of our country. This practice is immoral, cruel, and deeply at odds with our faith. I am proud of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for its strong moral stance on this issue. In fact, you can read the Disciples statement at disciples.org. and sign the petition. The statement begins: "Over the past several weeks, new policies for the implementation of immigration laws have resulted in family detention and the separation of thousands of children from their parents across the United States. We, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), have proclaimed ourselves to be a pro-reconciling/anti-racist church, which extends welcome to all people, recognizing that every person is created in the image of God. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are commanded to “love one another; for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law” (Romans 13:8). When we start with love, we will understand that when laws dehumanize and discriminate, we are faithful in opposing such laws . . . " I hope you will visit the website (disciples.org) and read the entire statement, and if you feel as passionate as I do about this issue, sign the statement. Your name and our church name will be added to the list. Let's make a strong showing on behalf of the children! Peace, Rev. Patricia

Millersburg Christian Church Green Team
Would you like to be part of the Millersburg Christian Church "Green Team"? Join us on July 8 after the service for our first meeting of the Green Team, that is, a few folks from the congregation who feel passionate about environmental issues and care of God's creation. The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has a program called "Green Chalice" that is sweeping the denomination, and we want to be part of it! In fact, after much discussion among member of the Cabinet and Board, we are already doing many things to promote creation care, so meeting up and taking steps to make it "official" with our denomination will be fun and affirming We will view a video and discuss the ways our church is already working for the good of the earth (while saving money), and ways we can improve. If you're interested, go to the website and read all about it: https://www.discipleshomemissions.org/missions-advocacy/green-chalice/

*Continued prayers of comfort, healing and strength for Brooke Monson, granddaughter of Bill and Jeanette Hudson and daughter of Ron and Beth Monson. *A huge thanks to everyone who helped with our recent garage sale, either by working or donating! It was a huge success! Thank you to Patty Eggleston for spearheading this effort! *Sincere thanks to the Millersburg Fire Department for their help with Jay Harmon recently. *Sincere sympathy to the family of Yvonne Bryant who passed away recently. *Congratulations to Lexi Begemann, who graduated from Fulton High School. She was our childcare attendant for several years and the children loved her! Good luck!
Thanks to Larry Baumgartner for hosting our Outdoor Worship service
June 10. The food was delicious and the fellowship was awesome!
Dear MCC friends, Thank you so much for your prayers, cards, phone calls, visits at the hospital and food brought to us during my recent heart surgery. I’m doing exceptionally well! Thanks again, Karen Ackley and family
The work begins! Tearing out the old concrete ramp into the basement of the church!
Balances for Millersburg Christian Church accounts at Callaway Bank: 2/14/18 3/10/18 4/9/18 5/15/18 6/16/18 Checking - $12,845 $12,072 $14,764 $11,846 $14,028 Savings - $ 3,278 $ 3,466 $ 3,467 $ 3,468 $ 3,470 Special - $ 6,517 $ 7,220 $19,514 $19,082 $20,207 PayPal - $ 525 The “special” account has been changed to a checking account, which I hope will make some things easier for Lisa. The increase in the “special” account is mostly due to the deposit of the $11,990 grant award from the Bridgeton Fund. Since the work for which received that money (the replacement of the ramp to the Fellowship Hall) has been completed, that account should go down by $11,990 in next month's report. I have also added to this report the amount of money in the church's PayPal account. While this amount is small compared to the church bank accounts, I want people to know that this account exists and that it is a mechanism by which people can make pledge or other payments to the church. Just go to the church webpage (http://millersburgchristianchurch.org/) and click on the "Donate" tab at the top of the page.
Respectfully submitted, Jeff Moran, Treasurer
Annual Church Clean-Up Day
Thanks to everyone who signed up to help us this year (Barbara, Brenda, Carolyn, David, Lee, Patty, Rita, Stan and Vicki) . Because we did such a thorough cleaning last year and custodian David Thomas is doing an awesome job cleaning each week we decided to focus more on the basement Fellowship Hall and Kitchen areas. These areas get constant use because this is where the Millersburg Preschool meets throughout the year and is where our fellowship events are held. Major projects completed this year were: outside and inside windows were washed, light bulbs were replaced and dead bugs were cleaned out of the light fixtures. The hardest fixtures to clean were the 3 lights behind the baptistery because the ceiling is so high it required getting on a ladder to reach them and then trying to put the 4 screws back in was a challenge, it had been many years since these were done. Thank you, Stan for doing this! The storage closet behind the kitchen was cleaned out and all the signs advertising our events throughout the year where placed here. David Thomas hauled off the big wooden signs since we have newer ones that are light weight. It was hoped to clean out the property supply closet by the piano but a meeting will need to be held to decide what to keep and what to dispose of. Brenda has volunteered to clean out the Pac ‘N Play and then it will be stored for future use unless the preschool parents want us to keep it out for any little ones that come with their older siblings. Lee Plank has volunteered to replace the 3 sprayers in the kitchen when new ones are purchased. The sign-up list was sent around again because there are still some jobs needing our attention. All the carpet was cleaned last fall but stains have appeared on the carpet in the mezzanine area due to spills during our First Sunday Socials. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s ongoing assistance to keep the church neat, tidy and in the best condition possible because it is can be needed on a moment’s notice for funerals or meetings in addition to our weekly Sunday Worship.
New Concrete Ramp and Front Side Walk Installed: Thank You Rodney Latty & HLW Builders, Inc!
After years of watching the ramp to the fellowship hall crumble we finally have a new ramp thanks to the hard work of Rodney Latty, HLW Builders, Inc. and the Bridgeton Foundation for the grant we received! Rodney & his crew worked in extreme heat to jack hammer out the ramp and sidewalk. Prior to the new concrete Rod added a sump pump which we hope and pray will take care of the water problems in the basement that has occurred for years and which has caused the church much heartache, headaches and financial expenses. To keep the area as debris free as we can from leaves, etc. so they don’t clog our new drain, the area where shrubs and flowers were was removed so the entire ramp is now all all concrete. Rod and his crew do an outstanding job cleaning up everything, including having new gravel put on the front parking lot because they had to trench under the parking lot to connect everything. This week new handrails are to be installed for the front of the church, the areas will be into the mezzanine, down the ramp to the fellowship hall and extending the handrail from the front door to the parking lot. As mentioned in the May Newsletter, there are many infrastructure needs (handrails, drainage issues around the church and removal and repair of back sidewalk,) that we are needing to address but with a very limited budget we need your help. If you would like to donate towards these vital repairs any donations towards the remaining $14,274 would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to Millersburg Christian Church, Attn: Jeff Moran, Treasurer, 4527 State Road J, Fulton, MO 65251, on the memo line put “Church Infrastructure” Thank You for your consideration, God Bless.
