Expectations
The standard will describe the methodology and the core elements ofthe integration of environmental aspects into the product planningand development process and is closely aligned with IEC Guide 114
and ISO TR 14062. The standard will be a horizontal standard and allows sector or
company specific solutions within its frame. It is applicable for large
medium and small enterprises (SMEs).
The standard will incorporate ECD into the decision-making design
process. Specifications in the standard are confined to factors thatcould be influenced by designers. Statements on other factors areinformative only.

The standard standard will describe what but not how.
Examples ofECD tools and their possible application without beingprescriptive will be included in the Annex .
LCA will be referenced as a strategic tool.
Limit the subject of data to the description of categories of data thatare necessary for ECD and interfaces or boundaries. This will becarried out in conjunction with WG1.
