Satlink V2 (SL2-G312-V2)
What are the differences compared to the prior Satlink?
Key Differences:
• Doubling of the number of 300 bps channels by reducing the existing channel width in half and adding new channels in between the original channels.
• Redefining the channel numbering schemes for 1200 bps.• Improved frequency control for longer operation without
GPS reception.• Reduced power output to comply with lower power
requirements on the satellite.
V2 Key Differences
• Ability to select the satellite antenna from a list which controls the output power.
• Elimination of Domestic 100 bps operation.• Reduction of CGMS (international 100bps) channels to 11.• Added Antenna Aim calculator support for Satlink
Communicator.• Reduction in the maximum transmit buffer length supporting
new failsafe limits.• New Frame Sync word.

• FRAME SYNCOriginally there were 3 frame sync codes used to represent: (located at the start of the message)
– No interleaver– Short interleaver– Long interleaver
• V2 certification DELETED ALL INTERLEAVING capability.• V2 certification reused the ‘LONG’ interleaver frame sync for ALL transmissions.

• Frequency ErrorOriginal CS1.0B specifications allowed +/- 400 Hz error.
NEW CSV2.0 specifications allow +/- 125 Hz.
• Operation without GPSPrior Satlinks supported 18 hours operation.
NEW V2 Satlinks support 30 day operation with no GPS provided it originally had GPS for at least 10 transmissions prior to the outage.
