Come and Play Pétanque in Baar ParkYou have certainly heard of pétanque. Pétanque has grown in popularity in recent years and it can also be played in the BB Centrum complex: in Baar Park to be specific.

HOW TO PLAY ITThis game is easy in principle. The big advantage is that either just a few players or a larger number can participate – at least two are needed. Pétanque can be played by two teams of one to three members striving to throw hollow metal balls as closely as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet, or jack. Although the game is very simple in principle, you need to practise regularly to master the technique and strategy. Why not use the park at BB Centrum?

Building FILADELFIE Was AwardedBuilding FILADELFIE, dominating the BB Centrum complex in Prague 4, has won the TOP INVEST 2011 Award. It has received this accolade from the Association of Building Entrepreneurs of the CR, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the CR, the Ministry for Regional Development of the CR, and the Veletrhy Brno company for the best investment plan in the Czech Republic in the year 2011.The competition is open to projects which are remarkable for a good return on investment or social importance and the strengthening of the cultural, sporting or social position of the city or region. „Building FILADELFIE has proved to match both the requirements. Multipurpose Sports Ground Also in SummerYou can do sports without having to leave BB Centrum as a multipurpose sports ground is open next to Building FILADELFIE all year round. It is located in Baarova Street, immediately adjacent to the Christian Elijáš Primary School. As the adjective multipurpose indicates, the sports ground serves a variety of sports, such as football, floorball, badminton, volleyball, handball and tennis. The playing area is 44 x 24 metres in size and the complex has, aside from the sporting facilities, fine supporting amenities including modern changing rooms and showers. Public Parking at BB CentrumFive paid public parking lots, with a total capacity of 416 spaces, are currently available at BB Centrum. They are comprised of two underground (Brumlovka and FILADELFIE buildings) and three on-street parking facilities. The most recently added public parking lot has been created in Želetavská Street due to vexing traffic problems in that street. The system of paid public parking was introduced on the existing parking spaces in April, with parking-attendants to ensure more effective organization and smooth traffic in the street.

ČEZ Supporting a Travelling Exhibition The jubilee 30th Olympic Games are to begin in less than 100 days. Naturally, the representing Czech team is, along with the UK capital, also preparing for this event of worldwide significance. Phone BankingAs of 20th April 2012, owners of Nokia and HTC smart phones running the Windows Phone operating system can download the “Bank in a mobile – Smart Banking” application. UniCredit Bank thus confirms its position as the leader in mobile banking with the greatest number of supported mobile telephones on the Czech market. The simple application breaks through existing constraints by enabling very easy access to accounts through a single icon on a phone’s screen. UniCredit Bank began its innovation of mobile banking services in the autumn of last year. Since that time, the “Bank in a mobile – Smart Banking” application has been adapted for all types of operating systems, now also including Windows Phone. In October 2011, UniCredit Bank became the first Czech bank to introduce to the market a banking application tailor-made for the vast majority of mobile phones and committed itself to maintaining this high standard for future mobile phones.

Telefónica has Launched an Educational GameTelefónica has introduced a Facebook educational game, known as Strážce internetu (“Internet Guardian”). It aims to give warning about the risks involved in surfing the Internet. Aside from viruses and other perilous programs, these risks are taken by those who, although possibly with the best intentions, try to access sensitive personal data. “We would like to provide users of social networks with some tips on using the Internet with the highest level of security,” said Dana Dvořáková, Communication Director of Telefónica Czech Republic. During the game, the user learns about the most common types of attack that might endanger his or her computer. The player eliminates prospective risks of the Internet by clicking on various types of attack. Those players who achieve the highest score, will be rewarded with five Nokia Lumia 710 phones and 100 “O2 Strážce internetu” keys. GE Money Bank Speeded Up ATM Transactions

Thanks to the new display design and clearly arranged navigation, the average time of a GE Money Bank ATM transaction has been reduced by 20%. Two fewer steps are sufficient now for meeting the user’s requirements: the choice of languages has been removed, being selected automatically, as has the advertisement before the main menu is displayed. This change has been implemented with all the 690 GE Money Bank cash dispensers. The ATMs have undergone other improvements around the republic, such as the overall integration of graphics and texts, which results in easier navigation, and the introduction of a more striking shade of green for the most frequently used buttons. These changes have been introduced to accompany each language of the cash dispensers: Czech, English, German and French.

What the past surveys revealedThis year’s survey, rather than being

the first in the history of BB Centrum,

follows in the tradition of previous

surveys conducted in the years of 2001,

2004 and 2008. The positive impact

of these surveys can be illustrated by

a number of projects that have been

implemented based on their results. So,

what kinds of improvements have been

required by the tenants themselves?

The surveys undertaken in 2001 and 2004 identified the tenants’ top priorities and, as a result, the following services have been introduced: In addition to extending the network of cafés, restaurants and parking lots, a pharmacy, a post office and shuttle service have been included, as well as more effective communication within the complex (the Catalogue of Shops and Services, BB Centrum Review). Also, Baar Park has been also developed and Park Brumlovka has entered a preparatory phase.

The following survey from 2008

confirmed that these steps had

been taken in the right direction.

It showed that, at BB Centrum, the

most frequently used services are

the pharmacy, the post office, ATMs,

a tobacconist, a Maranatha shop and

a newsagent. According to the tenants,

the most frequently visited restaurant

was Pizzeria Grosseto.

Moreover, the survey indicated that

the most sought-after shops, which

were sadly lacking at BB Centrum,

were a shop selling food, fruits and

vegetables, and a bakery. A great many

respondents expressed their interest in

extending the range of catering services.

These requirements were met in 2010,

when the FILADELFIE mall opened,

with an Albert supermarket, an Express

Sandwich fast food establishment, a dm

chemist, and a drycleaner and laundry

service. The public transport and the

shuttle service, which was introduced in

the complex in 2007, met with a positive

response from 92% of respondents.

In view of this, the shuttle service is

an obvious asset to the area, and it

undergoes continuous improvement.

Elijáš Christian Primary SchoolThe Elijáš Christian Primary School has been established

by the Czech Union of the SDAC. At present, 50 children

are provided with primary schooling on the premises, while

another 30 children receive individual (home) schooling.

State-of-the-art multimedia technology is used in class. The

pupils are from Christian and non-religious families alike.

Children are encouraged in the principles of tolerance. High

priority is placed on promoting moral values. Children and

their parents are offered an education in a safe environment.

English tuition is an integral part of the curriculum from the

first class. As the school provides pupils with comprehensive

care, they are offered a healthy and well-balanced diet.

Elijáš Nursery SchoolUnless your children are subject to compulsory schooling,

you can use the services of the Elijáš Nursery School which

provides children with an individualized approach and

excellent equipment. The nursery school is located in the

Community Centre building, not far from Building Gamma.

It has its own aesthetically and practically designed garden.

Moreover, children can learn English in a playful way and

attend interest groups within the curriculum, in addition

to developing pre-school skills and beneficial habits. More

Samuel Christian Family CentreThe youngest children can benefit from the newly founded

Samuel Christian Family Centre, situated in the Elijáš Primary

School building. They are offered leisure-time activities in

a kind and maternal environment amongst experienced

professionals.

Children are also welcomeat BB Centrum BB Centrum offers a great variety of services, including those that benefit parents and children. Both the youngest and compulsory school pupils are considered as the Elijáš Christian Primary School provides basic education, along with running a nursery school and a family centre. Feel free to make a choice that meets your and your children’s requirements.

To speak with her about her career,

and jewellery in general, demands

listening with the same level of

enthusiasm as she speaks about them.

Like anyone else who enjoys their work,

Jitka Mlynarčík also tends to emphasise

the role of teachers, in which she was

fortunate. She served an apprenticeship

as goldsmith-jeweller and managed to

meet the last master craftsmen from the

era of the First Republic. Thanks to them,

the reputable school of Czech jewellery,

for which quality and precision are a high

priority, has been in her blood ever since.

On the one hand, many are involved in

the sale of jewellery but, on the other

hand, if you have the courage to design

your own brand collections, this is taking

it to another level. She has succeeded

and, not surprisingly, her jewellery has

been chosen for a programme by a Qatar

TV station.

Let’s start with the topic of jewellery

etiquette. What does this term mean?

A lot has been written and spoken about

etiquette, which is understood as the

system of rules and standards of social

behaviour in our country; however, the

selection of suitable jewellery for the

woman according to her personality,

or for a specific occasion, has not

been extensively dealt with. We still

feel the effects of the former era when

individuality was suppressed, along

with a bias against the jeweller, who

was regarded as a symbol of excessive

luxury. We strive to change that in

our discussions with clients. To make

jewellery a part of life and culture, to use

it for the development of the internal

life and the beauty of the woman to be

reflected in her relationship with herself

and with others, of our company.

Did you have another source of

inspiration, aside from your teachers?

I went through a one-year internship

programme with the atelier of a

prestigious jeweller in Caracas where,

aside from working with excellent

designers, I had an opportunity to

use unmatched materials including

precious stones, and to observe the

with the South-American approach to

a woman’s beauty, had a considerable

influence on me and led me to the idea

of also providing Czech women with

original jewellery of my own design and

my personal approach. I drew much

inspiration from my husband, with

whom I have developed our company

with patience and perseverance since its

modest beginnings. As a matter of fact, I

manufactured our very first jewellery in a

former laundry in Smíchov.

The road to the prestigious space at BB

Centrum was not easy. Why did you

choose it?

We have been in Building FILADELFIE

since it opened in October 2010. We

perceive BB Centrum as a family city,

where there are lots of services for living.

Personally, I visit local restaurants, shops

and the hairdresser, along with going to

the Community Centre with my family

– my daughters go to the nursery school

here. Most importantly, we have found a

store which is interesting in terms of its

space and design, and offers convenient

parking for our clients. We also aim to

enhance the quality of life of local people

and those employed in this little city,

which we organically blend into through

our services. To give you the full picture,

we also run another store in Palace Flóra.

What do you offer in your stores?

The collection of designer jewellery from

the Viva Vision brand is my own creative

initiative. These are hand-made models

in various shades of gold, with diamonds

and black pearls. The Radost collection

comes from Vardan Nazaryan’s studio

and the Diva collection has been created

by our designer, David G. Hrubec. Also,

engagement and wedding rings of our

Tolerance brand form an important

assortment. A wedding is a major

milestone in life, which explains why we

design and manufacture these products

with tremendous love and care. The

broad selection of 300 basic models,

with an option of customizing, enables

any couple to get unique jewellery for

this very special occasion. By contrast,

corporate events occur more frequently

– I also mean birthdays, anniversaries,

graduations – and with our gifts given on

those occasions, we and our quality team

virtually accompany our clients through

their lives. Moreover, they can take on

the role of designers and, within our

custom-made production plan, discuss

their design directly with our goldsmiths.

You can also view the workshop from the

lounge, and we organize individual tours

as well.

Do you also sell any goods by other

manufacturers?

With our own production offering

affordable prices, we focus especially on

gold jewellery with pearls and precious

stones, which is why we cooperate with

renowned, meticulously selected Czech

and foreign brands offering silver, steel

and other jewellery. They help extend

our range of goods so that anybody can

choose. They include, among others, the

brands of Miluna, POe-Nui, and Retofy.

Also, we are working on a new collection

which, being prepared in collaboration

with Calvin Klein, is stunningly attractive

in design. Men and women alike will

appreciate another important ornament

– the watch. Our customers are also men

who – besides wanting to find a gift with

which to surprise their mates on special

occasions – can give a quality watch to

themselves. We offer exclusively Swiss

brands, such as Certina, Tissot, Edox,

Tag Heuer, Maurice Lacroix and others.

Speaking of jewellery and watches, we are

concerned with providing our customers

with a selection from pleasant, moderate

price levels to luxury items, yet all of high

quality.

Is it actually possible to select a suitable

piece of jewellery if a man arrives

without his partner?

When talking to him, we get a

description of the woman and learn

a lot about the relationship, along

with the occasion for which the gift is

being selected. And if he shows us her

photograph, we can certainly make a

good choice. Men are usually very busy

at work so are offered the opportunity

to discuss the design of the jewellery via

email. Some situations can be dealt with

elegantly through the purchase of a gift

token, and the woman consequently

selects the right jewellery by herself or

with her partner.

As a country boy, fed on freshly

slaughtered pork, I was entering

the vegetarian restaurant

on the ground floor of Building

Brumlovka with hesitation. I expected

to be buried in leaves, stalks, tubers,

legumes, berries, and leafstalks, yet they

offered me Szekely Goulash instead.

Admittedly, made from soya meat and

with wholemeal dumplings, but it was

delicious and my granny would not have

felt ashamed of it.

Without harmful emulgatorsAlthough vegetarian, the Maranatha

restaurant is by no means only for sworn

abstainers from meat because the dishes

are also geared to the tastes of those that

are not so anxious about their diet.

The chef Petr Zborník, together with

three assistants, prepares a set menu

plus one or two other warm dishes, four

or five salads and desserts in the form of

home made wholemeal cakes or genuine

Greek yoghurt with fruit, chocolate, nuts

or honey.

The cold assortment also includes

several kinds of fresh vegetables and

a variety of ingredients and savouries,

from grated Parmesan and sesame seeds

to pickled olives, peas or a rice mixture

in a grape leaf.

To drink, there are fresh fruit and

vegetable juices, lemon squash and

several sorts of packaged juices and

water. You can also choose fruit, herbal

or green tea, or possibly surrogate

coffee. What you will not find there is

alcohol, real coffee, coke or black tea.

Ingredients used here in the preparation

of dishes do not really contain meat,

which is replaced by proteins from

soya, wheat, or eggs or a combination of

these. When choosing food, the cooks

avoid those ingredients that contain

harmful emulgators, preferring organic

products which currently amount

to 30% of all ingredients – and their

proportion is constantly on the increase.

Given the unmistakable flavour of

authentic Greek yoghurt, olives, sheep

and goat cheese, and oil, these original

ingredients are imported.

Portions tailored to your needsAs the restaurant is self-service, anyone

can set the menu according to his or

her taste and appetite. Do you think

the dishes will get boring? There is little

danger because the menu is changed

every day.

On no account does a vegetable diet

consist only of green leaves and raw

as it is possible to prepare delicious

and interesting meals from literally

thousands of combinations off the

buffet table. Those drawn to classical

cuisine will order, for example, the

aforementioned Szekely Goulash,

sirloin (naturally, made from vegetable

proteins) or spaghetti, whereas those

ready to experiment will try fried

celery in “hraska” (trademark for a

flavoursome mixture made from peas),

zucchini salad or an apple pie known as

Tarte Tatin.

In short, people who refuse to eat any

animal proteins, including eggs and

dairy products, will not get a bad deal

either. They are offered several vegan

dishes daily, all of them distinctly

marked in the menu. Another mark

indicates gluten-free dishes which are

also on the menu.

Benefit from discountsThe price is subject to the total weight

of the dish. Whatever you put on your

plate, you will always pay CZK 30 per

100 grams. By comparison, a complete

meal from the menu is priced a little bit

more attractively – a set of a soup plus

a main dish plus a lemon squash goes

for CZK 110. You can have even cheaper

meals during happy hours after 3 pm,

when the dishes are offered at a 25%

discount. And if you arrive one hour

before closing time, you will save even

50%; however, the menu is somewhat

limited by that time.

Not only foodThe restaurant can seat 130 guests inside

and 28 on an outdoor front terrace. They

serve from 400 to 500 people daily, with

the majority coming between 11:30 am

and 1 pm. But everything runs smoothly

even in these peak hours. Anyway, if

you want to enjoy your meal in peace

without any stressful waiting in queues

or searching for a vacant table, come

a little bit later. You will enjoy a more

relaxed atmosphere. You can also

benefit from a delivery service – the

obliging staff are ready to bring you the

dish of your choice anywhere within the

BB Centrum complex. And it is for free

– all you have to do is to make a phone

booking in the morning. The current

week’s menu is always available on

the Internet in advance, and registered

customers can have it delivered to their

inbox.

This growing seasonal fatigue might be accompanied

by a constant, long-standing mental strain and a lack

of essential nutrients in the daily diet, the absence of

regular workouts, relaxation and the loss of a sense of meaning

in life. If this is the case, then chronic, year-long fatigue and

so-called burnout syndrome are inevitable results. It is the

periods of seasonal transitions when enormous demands

are imposed on human immunity and metabolism by the

surrounding environment. The urban environment is also

extremely demanding, with all the noise, bustle, anonymity

and aggressiveness, as are permanent mental strain and

undernourishment, i.e. the lack of essential nutrients in the

organism and diets, including not only physical nutrients, but

also emotional and moral values. This leads to accumulating

a so-called metabolic, emotional and moral debt, which - most

frequently and naturally – causes chronic fatigue, or rather,

a tendency toward signs of physical, mental and moral fatigue

setting in very quickly and easily.

Over the winter, most people have incurred this metabolic

debt, resulting from eating sweet, fatty, fried and, generally

speaking, refined foods and, to make things even worse, they

continue to subject themselves to this health hazard in the

spring season, when their diet should be lighter and richer in

nutrients. Recommended foods include fresh spring vegetables,

sprouted cereals and legumes, gluten-free cereals (millet, whole

grain rice, quinoa, buckwheat), fresh herbs, and fresh juices

made from fruit, vegetables and herbs. Most people sadly fail

to replenish nutrients through natural foods in spring, which

is why they are surprised to see that by no means has their

condition and appearance matched their expectations early

in summer. Many make further mistakes, trying a variety of

muscle mass stimulants and expensive cosmetics, along with

hurling themselves into all sorts of diets and consuming usually

unnecessarily expensive nutritional supplements, whose

effect is often doubtful. As early as 30 years ago, when the food

supplement business was actually booming, it was known

that a fresh vegetable salad with herbs and olive oil or fresh

berries and nuts are incomparably healthier than any tablet of

whatever price, containing synthetic vitamins and minerals.

If we intend to fight off chronic fatigue and burnout syndrome,

we should bear in mind that, basically speaking, we merely

struggle to relieve a symptom of something much more

significant than the actual fatigue and the chronic weakening of

the organism. We should aim to discover and remove the real

root of what we have been discussing – to end life in debt and –

through a new, healthy way of life – to stop increasing this debt.

To sum up, in the area of nutrition it is recommended to opt

especially for sprouted cereals and legumes, gluten-free cereals,

fresh or pickled vegetables, nuts, oleaginous seeds, virgin oils

and so-called green foods, along with increasing the intake

of quality liquids, such as spring water, highly diluted fresh

fruit, vegetable, cereal and herbal juices and weak herbal teas.

Also, high-quality, industrially unprocessed cream or yoghurt,

especially made from goat or sheep’s milk, can be consumed

now and then. In terms of physical exercise, we should take

more frequent walks in the countryside and have regular

muscular workouts with the use of, among other things, springs,

latex flexibands and balance stones. This type of exercise greatly

helps to toughen articular capsules, ligaments and tendons, in

addition to its natural contribution towards building necessary

muscle strength and mass. Moreover, it does not impose high

demands on space, time and finance. As for relaxation issues,

we should focus on quality before-midnight sleep, along with

refining relationship communication and moral purity. I hope

you will manage to adhere to these principles and benefit

from them in your everyday life. I wish you excellent health as

a natural part of an overall healthy lifestyle.
