Website Podcasts Social Media Books Speaking Engagements

Through their books–including their newest, You’re the Best–their radio show, podcasts, magazine columns, social media presence, and speaking engagements, the Satellite Sisters

have won over legions of women who hear their own lives and laughter in the sisters’ brand of smart, funny, thoughtful conversation.

The Dolan sisters–Julie, Liz, Sheila, Monica and Lian–created a new genre of talk radio when they launched Satellite Sisters as a weekly show on public radio and later a nationally

syndicated daily show on ABC Radio Network. The show has moved from broadcast to broadband, but the conversation continues with the sisters’ trademark humor and warmth. In twice-weekly podcasts they discuss issues that impact women’s lives. From the personal to the professional—parenting, politics, pop culture–all are topics open for discussion from the individual perspectives of five real sisters leading five very different lives. Each sister

brings a singular point of view to Satellite Sisters, but together they share a collective approach to life: It’s the serious things that need to be tackled with a sense of humor.

“Our listeners feel like they are engaged in an ongoing conversation with us. That conversation is about their lives just as much as it is about our lives.” —Lian Dolan

The Sisters Have Written the Book on FriendshipComing September 2015

“You’re smart. You’re funny. You text just the right amount. You’re the one person that tells me about the thing in my teeth without sounding just a little bit superior.”

Connect to a Brand Built On Friendship

You’re the Best is a thank you note to our female friends, our Satellite Sisters, the women we call when the best thing in our lives happens or the worst. It’s a collec-tion of essays and writings about how we rely on our friends to get us up, get us going, get us through and, most importantly, make us laugh. Written with humor and empathy and incorporating voices 15 to 60, the Satellite Sisters and the Next Gen of the Sisterhood share stories about how friendships influence choices, relationships, careers, adventures and inevitable changes.

The perfect gift for childhood BFFs, your college roommates, your running group, your book club, your PTA friends or your actual sisters—for anyone you want to tell, “You’re the best.”

Thank you for the years. Thank you for the dancing. Thank you for the sunshine. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for your empathy. Thank you for the laughter.

Thank you for your friendship.

You’re the best,xoxo

“We’ve been married, divorced, and dumped. We have teenagers, adult kids, grandkids and no kids, just dogs. We’ve gone to grad school, worked the night shift and gotten fired. We’ve run marathons, school fairs and big companies. We’re losing our figures, our inhibitions and, occasionally, our minds. We wish we had more time, more money and more skin elasticity. We are, in short, just like a lot of women.” –Monica Dolan

“The level of listening and engagement–and the opportunity to get into the very intimate medium of spoken-word audio in someone’s headphones–is just a really

powerful place to be for brands. So it’s starting to command a premium.”

“Our fans are extremely loyal. They’ve followed us from the radio to the web, they follow us on Facebook and Twitter, they schedule meet-ups with other listeners. We aren’t just the Satellite Sisters—we are a bridge to their own satellite sisters. We end each show reminding them to call their satellite sister, and that’s what they tell us they do.” —Liz Dolan

Connect through Conversation

Maybe more.

“We’ve wear-tested everything from sports bras to lip plumpers for the “Lab Rats” segment of our show. We’re not experts. We’re just sisters. But because of the con-nection we have with our audience, they trust us and they trust our opinions.

Connect with the Sisters

Liz Dolan: The Chief Marketing Officer for Fox International Channels (formerly the CMO of the Oprah Winfrey Network and Vice President of Global Marketing at Nike), she’s been twice named Woman of the Year by the sports industry and she’s earned spots on such lists as “100 Most Powerful Women in Sports” (Sporting News), “25 Women to Watch” (Ad Week), and “100 Most Powerful Women in Cable” (Cablefax). A single frequent-flier, she splits her time between her home in Santa Monica, California and Admiral Club Lounges around the world.

Lian Dolan: The author of two best-selling novels–Helen of Pasadena and Elizabeth the First Wife–she’s also been a regular columnist for O, the Oprah Magazine and Working Mother and now writes monthly for Pasadena Magazine. Lian has developed several shows for television, including a half- hour sitcom for Nickelodean based on The Chaos Chronicles, the website, blog and weekly podcast she created about her life as a busy working mom. Besides podcasting and writing, Lian speaks extensively to women’s organizations, corporate groups and book clubs about her work and her life with wit and warmth. Lian lives in Pasadena, California, with her husband and two teenage sons.

Julie Dolan: The show’s foreign correspondent, having lived and worked in Bangkok and Moscow. Julie and her husband now live in the foreign land of Dallas, Texas, but she continues to travel extensively, including “girlfriend trips” to North Korea and Uzbekistan. Her compelling storytelling is a listener favorite. Previously, she worked at and taught in a number of top universities, including UCLA, Stanford and Tulane. Julie, whose alter ego is Urban Nana, has two adult sons, two wonderful daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.

Sheila Dolan: Currently a third-grade teacher, she has worked in both the classroom and administration side of education in both public and private schools in Manhattan and LA. Her natural ability to laugh at herself and tell funny stories comes in handy when faced with 23 nine-year-olds on a daily basis. As the self-styled entertainment reporter on Satellite Sisters, she has been barred from many red carpets, but that hasn’t stopped Entertaining Sheila from reporting on the events. Sheila, a divorce mother, lives with an abundance of beauty products in South Pasadena, California.

Monica Dolan: An RN working as a clinical research coordinator for acute stroke trials at a university hospital. Monica leads many of the health and wellness discussions on Satellite Sisters and also has her own segment entitled “Science of the Obvious,” in which she examines studies that come to such earth-shattering conclusions as: “Teens’ Brains May Not Be Ready To Make Good Decisions” and “Most Adult Women Do Not Get Enough Sleep.” Monica lives in Portland, Oregon, and whenever possible escapes to her bungalow in Bend.
