MIS FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2019

KOVAI SAHODAYA VOLLEY BALL MATCH-WINNER

Kovai Sahodaya Volley Ball Tournament held on August 1, 2019 at

Komarapalayam both for Boys and Girls. In all nine schools took

part in the competition, our school team comprises of both boys

and girls in U-19 category and brought honours to the school as

winners.

CHESS COMPETITION

In a District level Chess Tournaments conducted by Kovai Chessmates

sports trust, Coimbatore held on August 4, 8, 25, 2019 at Coimbatore

we are proud that 12 of our students took part. K.Naveen of class XI

placed second position among 120 participants. The participating

students were guided by Mr.K.S.Madavan, Teacher of Mathematics

under whose encouragement and support our children bagged the

honours.

SATCHIDANANDA HOSTS - INTER SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION

Satchidananda hosted an Inter School Quiz Competition -

QUIZTIVAL 2019 – on August 14, 2019 in Satchidananda

Golden Jubilee Auditorium for schools coming under Kovai

Sahodaya region. Twenty teams from the districts of

Coimbatore, Tirupur and Nilgiris took part in the Quiztival.

The Lawrence School, Lovedale, Ooty retained the first

position. The second position went to PSG Public School,

Coimbatore, while the third place went to Vidhya Nikethan School, Coimbatore. We are happy to

share that this is the 23rd edition of the Inter School Quiz Competition that we have hosted ever

since we started the school. As we were the host our team did not participate.

Dr.Kavidasan, Secretary of the school gave away the prizes to the winners and Mr.P.Murugesan,

Teacher of Geography was the Quiz Master.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION- 2019

The 73rd Independence Day of the Nation

was celebrated in our school campus on

August 15 2019. Mr.M.Ravisankar, ADSP

(Retd.), Madurai District was the Chief Guest.

After hoisting the tricolour and taking up the

salute of the March Past of our students, he

urged the students to make use of the

resources available in the country by proper

planning and timing. Sweets were distributed at the end of the celebration.

ALUMNI TALK

In sequel to the previous Alumni Talk that inspired the current

students of the school, Ms.Pragadambal Padhmanabhan MBA a

batch of 2004 addressed our students on August 17, 2019. In her

address she encouraged the students to equip themselves well in

advance so that pursuing higher education and the career will be

more meaningful.

Mr.Kavi Scidarth Batch of 2009 who is an Entrepreneur now

shared through Power Point how students have to keep their

vision intact till it is met with greater success and how the

resources in the school are put to the maximum use that will

of a great help later in their college and career.

Both these Alumni talk – a new initiative by the school- have

started gaining momentum in the minds of children and they

look forward to as the inputs are very vital for their growth.

DISTRICT LEVEL THIRUKKURAL COMPETITION

An inter District Level Thirukural competition was

organised by Sriram Chit Funds, Coimbatore. In the

Oratorical category that was held on August 17, 2019

B.Harishini of class VII won the First Place, R.Lakshana

of class VI won the Second Place and S.Bhavanya of

class VII won the consolation in the VI to VII category of

the 250 students from 30 schools that took part.

S.P.Yazhini of class XI won the consolation prize in the

IX to XII category. The Deputy Superintendent of Police,

Coimbatore Mr.J.Cedric Emanuel gave away the prices. We are pleased to share that B.Harishini of

class VII will represent Coimbatore District on our behalf in the next Sate Level Oratorical

Competition to be held in Chennai soon.

GURU POOJA

The Mukthi Anniversary of the Founder of the school, His

Holiness Swami Satchidananda Maharaj is celebrated as the

Guru Pooja. Smt.Maragadham Ammal an ardent devotee of

our Swamiji performed rituals. The choir team sang the Inter

faith bhajans followed by

‘Vilakku Pooja’ performed

by the students and staff

of the school. At the end floral tributes were paid to the portrait

of our Gurudev by Dr.Kavidasan, Secretary, staff followed by the

students.

THINKERS’ FORUM

To encourage children reading books, Thinkers’ Forum

was established. Recent books and the best sellers are

periodically reviewed by our teachers and students.

Students of class IX reviewed the book ‘Turning Points’,

by Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, students of class XI reviewed

the book ‘The Leader who has no Title’ by Robin

Sharma and Mr.S.Ranjith, Teacher of Social Science

reviewed the book ‘Letters from a father to his

daughter’ by Jawaharlal Nehru on August 20, 2019.

Ms.Sakthi Sridevi, a 13 year old young author from Erode was

invited to share her thoughts with our children with the hope of

inspiring so many gathered.

TAMIL QUIZ -2019

A Tamil Quiz was conducted in the school Auditorium on

August 21, 2019. Dr.S.Sakthivel, the Vice Principal

conducted the quiz. Questions were drawn from Literature,

Prose, Poetry, Science, History etc, besides the inclusion of

an audio and video rounds. Team Agni won emerged

winners.

KRISHNA JAYANTHI CELEBRATION

Krishna Jayanthi the birth day of Lord Krishna was

celebrated with great enthusiasm on August 23, 2019.

Bhajans were sung in praise of Lord Krishna. Children

also performed dances depicting the childhood pranks

of Lord Krishna. Prasadams were distributed to the

students after the pooja.

BUSINESS QUIZ

Mr.K.S.Seshakumar, Teacher of Business studies and

Accountancy conducted a Business Quiz to the students of

classes XI and XII Management stream. Students took part with

interest and questions drawn from stock market, logo of the

various companies, the tag lines etc., were the highlights.

Team Akash won the title.

LAUNCH OF FIT INDIA MOVEMENT

An Initiative by the Prime

Minister of India,

Sri.Narendra Modi, called

‘Fit India Movement’

highlighting the significance

of physical fitness among

Indians was witnessed on

screen live by the entire

student community on August 29, 2019 at 10.00 am to 11.00 am in the school auditorium. The Hindi

speech of the Prime Minister was summarised in English by the Academic Advisor Dr.V.Ganesan.

This was part of the requirement by the CBSE to witness the proceedings to the schools affiliated.

INTER SCHOOL CRICKET MATCH

An Inter school cricket match for Kovai Sahadaya

was conducted to the U-14, U17 and U-19 Teams

of its member schools. We won the winners

titles in the U-14 and U-17 category and we

became runners-up in the U-19 category. We

bagged the overall trophy.

CODISSIA ALL INDIA SCIENCE FAIR

As part of its GOLDEN JUBILEE celebrations, CODISSIA, Coimbatore conducted a National Science and Technology Fair 2019 from August 29 to 31, 2019. Best Inventions of students of schools and colleges across the country were selected and displayed based on merit and utility value. 15 of our students from classes 9 to 12 presented 5 projects in the fair and though they could not win any prizes, their exhibits received a fair degree of acclaim. They had an opportunity to go around the other exhibits and returned with plenty of experience.

SPIRITUAL ADDRESS

Dr.V.Ganesan, the Academic Advisor in his Spiritual

Address to the students community on August 30, 2019

brought to light how the character of Rama was

considered, the sacred in Ramayan and how by Rama as

their role model will bring them plenty of benefits in their

life. A fifteen minutes Ramayan song written in English by

him which was taken to BWPA UK, as the Cultural

Ambasador was played to children. The rapt attention of

the children is the indication that goodness from anywhere

will attract the young minds.

STATE LEVEL MUSIC COMPETITION

Tharini Ravishankar and Subhaharini.P of class XI won

the first place in at the State level Vocal singing

competition in memory of Shri.N.Mahalingam held at

NGP Arts and Science Collage on August 31, 2019

among 28 schools.

BAND COMPETITON

Seven Star Academy, Coimbatore conducted a

band competition among school children at Don

Bos co Hr.Sec School, Coimbatore among 15

Schools that took part in the competition our

school band team headed by band Major

Jai Surya.L of class X won the second place in the

Brass Band competition.
