Is Satan Bound?

This issue is central to the Amillennial view refuting a literal 1,000 year millennium kingdom.

Page 2: Satan Bound

Rev. 20:1-3

“And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be set free for a short time”.

• Initial battle in heavenly realms described in Rev. 12:3-5, “an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth.”

• This defeat occurred before “the woman” or Israel gave birth to “a child” or Jesus (Rev. 12:4b-5).

• Dan. 8:10-12, “It grew until it reached the host of the heavens, and it threw some of the starry host down to the earth and trampled on them. It set itself up to be as great as the Prince of the host; it took away the daily sacrifice from him and the place of the sanctuary was brought. Because of the rebellion, the host of the saints and daily sacrifice were given over to it.”

Page 16: Satan Bound

Satan’s Second Heavenly Defeat

• Rev. 12:7-9, “And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down- that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth and his angels with him.”
