Documentation of 2nd Annual Sports Day

‘V-I-C-T-O-R-Y We are winners! We are winners! There was excitement in the air. The collective heart beats of hundreds could be heard. The cheers and cries reached the ears as one stood on the grounds of SRS on 2nd February 2015. Hearing the ovation from the cheering teams and seeing those fabulous self-decorations with respective house colors at the grandstand of each house (i.e. Avni,Bayaar,Payus and Tejas) we knew it was time for the SRS Sports Meet.

By eleven thirty in the morning, the meet began to roll when students of SRS welcomed the honorable guests of the Day- Mr. Pankaj Yadav I.A.S. Secretary, Board of School Education Haryana cum C.E.D. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan School,Ms. Pooja Bohra(Common Wealth Champion), Mr.Ram Mehar(Arjun Awardee). ThePrincipal of the school, Dr. Veena Singh, welcomed the present guests. She also encouraged all the students to celebrate the day with pure and high spirits. Afterwards Ms. Pooja Bohra made the students to swear in an oath for participating with true sportsperson’s spirit and declared the sports meet open. The second annual sports meet was in full action. All the students of the school participated in one or the other event. The following events were organized on the day:

GROUP –‘ A’:- Kilkari to Class V (100% participation )

However following activities were conducted from 19 Jan. to 21 Jan, 2015:-

The sports events unfolded with breathtaking display of Yogasanas with the enchanting notes of shlokas at the backdrop. It was followed by the incredible display of Rhythmic Dance. Tiny tots of pre primary classes enforced everybody present there to elate with joy whereas racers were sprinting on the tracks with such speed that it was almost possible to hear the zoom as they went past us. Spectators on the side of the long jump sand pit hushed as their housemates darted past them only to jump a few feet into the sand. The determined faces of the students were visible as they mustered all their might to perform well in throw ball. Enthusiasm on the faces of participants and spectators was outlining the day’s events. Within minutes the participants could be spotted on the tracks, taking their positions on the ground and lo, reaching the final points.

The spectators, the contestants, the volunteers, teachers and supporting staff-all were out in the open doing their jobs flawlessly. Student council handled the situation remarkably well keeping their peers in check. Students from all classes volunteered to help teachers to take measurements and record the scores while the shutterbug photographers captured priceless moments in their cameras.

The whole day was amazingly harmonized with students stepping out in the sun to cheer their housemates and friends. If one stood in the centre of the field on that day, one would be startled with the

activity and regular cheers erupting from different corners of the field.

Finally, the long awaited moments came when the winners were encouraged by giving medals. It was an exciting day for the SRSians with full fervor and zeal. These memories will be cherished by the SRS family for years to come.
