Title: The Productivity TreeObjectives: O Define and explain productivity and discuss the various factors that affect

productivity. Describe why increased economic output increases the standard of living in a society.

O Indicate opportunity costs and economic risks involved to increase productivity of capital and human resources.

O Discuss the effects of government expenditures, regulations, and tax policies on productivity.

Background; Project 4O The Happy Puppy Pet Clinic is planning to

advertise the classes it offers clients. The clinic’s manager wishes to mail flyers to all clients telling about the October classes. She also wants this class information placed on the clinic’s Web site.

Purpose; Project 4O Create a one-page flyer advertising the

October classes. Also create a Web page containing this information.

Background; Project 5O Barbara Bouvart, owner of Bouvart’s Bistro,

needs to be able to update the restaurant’s menu on a regular basis. The restaurant maintains a database of menu items. These database records are used to make changes to the restaurant’s menu.

Purpose; Project 5O You will use the records in the restaurant’s

database to create an attractive, colorful, menu according to Barbara’s specifications.

PresentationDue: Wednesday, 1/30/13O Turn in a three page typewritten report or PowerPoint

presentation. This report must have no more than a one inch margin on both sides and on the top and bottom. It must be single-spaced. If typed – no larger font size then 12.

O Interview the owner (or an employee) of a local business. (Suggestions: restaurants, movie theaters, flower shops, dollar stores, card shops, print shop, gift shops, grocery store, clothing store, fitness or recreation provider, credit unions, banks, insurance agencies, real estate companies, contractors, utilities, government, fast food restaurants, etc.). If you have a family member, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or neighbor that works for a business, you may interview them. Below is a list of suggested questions to ask the person you interview in order to learn more about business and entrepreneurship. Your report should contain a well-rounded picture of that business and how they operate.
