Events, Activities and Achievements

June 2013-May 2014

1. Change of Guard: The New Management under the chairmanship of Dr.S.Rajendar, took

charge on 10th

June 2013 replacing the old management. The other office bearers

areDr.Vikram Reddy as Vice-chairman, Dr.D.GangadharRao as Hon.Secreary and

ShriDheerajJaiswal as Hon.Treasurer.

2. Intermediate Fresher’s Party: Mrs.V.Usha, Member, Governing Body, SNVMV and an

alumna of this college was the Chief Guest for the Intermediate Fresher’s Party held on

28th

June 2013.

3. Workshop on Small Industries: The JKC and the Placement Cell organized a workshop

on small industries on 19th

July 2013 for the Degree final year students to spread

awareness regarding the avenues and opportunities for establishment of small enterprise.

4. Orientation Lecture: An orientation lecture for the young and newly recruited faculty

members was held on 31st July 2013. Dr.VasundharaAugamiyah, Former Principal,

SNVMV oriented the faculty about Professionalism and Code of Conduct in academic

institutions.

5. FDP: A Faculty Development Programme on ‘Art of Teaching’ was conducted on 26th

and 27th

August 2013 to some of the U.G and P.G faculty members. The FDP was in

collaboration with Enhance Edu, IIIT Hyderabad and the resource persons were

Dr.SandhyaKode, Director, Enhance Edu, IIIT (Alumna) and her team.

6. P.G Orientation: Dr.Anita Reddy, Principal, Kasturba Gandhi College for Women and

our Alumna was the Chief Guest for the Orientation Programme for the PG students held

on 31st August 2013.

7. Teachers Day Celebration:Teachers Day Celebration were held in commemoration of

the Birthday of Dr.SarvepalliRadha Krishna, Eminent Teacher, Philosopher and former

President of India on 5th

September 2013, which is dedicated as ‘Teacher’s Day’. On this

occasion the importance of the Role of Teacher was narrated by the Principal Dr.B.Vani.

8. Gurupoojotsavam: As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations the institution felicitated

few Principals and Eminent Teachers of various schools in twin cities on 25th

September

2013 by organizing Gurupoojotsavam. Prof. N.B.Sudharshanacharya, Founder and

National Coordianator of LEAD INDIA 2020 was the Chief Guest and Sri T.Ravinder,

Founder, Vandemataram Foundation was the Guest of Honour.

9. Civil Services Orientation: This year the institution has established Civil Services

Coaching Center in compliance with the NAAC Peer Team recommendations. On 28th

September 2013 the Civil Service Asprirants were addressed by Sri Mohan Babu, IRS,

Mr.BalramNaik, IRS, and Mr.Guru Kumar, IRS.

10. Musical Event: As part of Golden Jubilee celebrations, a Grand Musical Evening was

held on 30th

September 2013. Eminent singers like Mr.Rahul, (EEGA fame),

Ms.Sravanabhargavi (PadutaTeeyaga fame) and Ms.Sahiti (ZEE Sa Re Ga Ma Pa) along

with their orchestra entertained the gathering with their melodious performance. This was

a fund raising event, ‘VanitaSwarnanidhi’ and the funds shall be used towards

empowerment of our students.

11. MBA Orientation: Prof.V.Sekhar, Department of Business Management, Osmania

University and Member, Governing Body, SNVMV was the Chief Guest for the MBA

Orientation Programme held on 7th

November 2013.

12. Vanita Alumnae Golden Jubilee Re-union: Reconnect to recollect was the theme for the

Vanita Alumnae Golden Jubilee Re-union held on 16th

November 2013. Vanita Alumnae

cherished and shared their nostalgic memories of their Alma Mater and reconnected with

each other on this occasion.

13. Inter-Collegiate Sports Competitions: As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations Inter-

collegiate Sports Competitions were conducted in Throwball, Chess and Carroms on 21st

November 2013. Around 8 colleges participated in the event.

14. Voter ID Enrolment Programme: The Department of Social Sciences conducted Voter

ID Enrolment drive from 21st to 23

rd November 2013 in collaboration with ‘Let’s Vote’

where students and some of the faculty members were enrolled as voters.

15. Science Exhibition: To inspire the students and inculcate an interest towards Pure

Science and Research, the institution conducted Science Exhibition ‘SA-DISHA’ (Right

Direction) on 22nd

and 23rd

November 2013 where around 500 students from various

colleges participated. Dr.B.G.Siddarth, Director, Birla Science Centre was the Chief

Guest for the inaugural and Dr.Venkateswarlu, Director, CRIDA was the Chief Guest for

the Valedictory. Students were awarded prizes for their innovative creative and inter

disciplinary exhibits. On this occasion the retired science faculty members of this

institution were felicitated.

16. Inter-Collegiate Literary Competitions: As part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations,

Inter-collegiate Literary competitions were conducted in Essay Writing, Elocution, Just-A-

Minute (JAM), Creative Writing, Recitation and Naath in English, Hindi, Telugu, Urdu,

Arabic and Sanskrit on 26th

November 2013. Students from various colleges participated

and won prizes.

17. Annual Sports Day: Annual Sports Day was held on 27th

November 2013. Shri Anil

Kumar, Founder, Great Sports Infra Pvt. Ltd. and Smt.S.Sujatha Reddy, Former Captain,

A.P Handball Team and our Alumna were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour

respectively. Students showcased their talents through Yoga, Karate demonstration.

18. Annual Day Celebrations: The Annual Day Celebrations were held on 20th

December

2013. ShriV.V.LakshmiNarayana, IPS, Former JD, CBI was the Chief Guest and

Dr.P.Balamba,M.D., D.G.O, Retd. Superintendent, Govt. Maternity Hospital was the

Guest of Honour. On this occasion, Gold Medals were presented to the meritorious

students and a vibrant cultural programme on the theme ‘Save Girl Child’ was presented

by the students of Vanita Maha Vidyalaya.

19. SangeetVanita Annual Day Celebrations:SangeetVanita Annual Day Celebrations were

held on 29th

January 2014 where the students, staff and alumnae rendered melodious kritis.

20. OPEN DAY: An Open Day was organized on 1st February 2014 for the school students to

spread awareness about the facilities and amenities available in the institution and to make

right career choices.

21. Sarojini Naidu Literary Fest: On the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Sarojini Naidu a

‘Poetry Fest’ was organized by the institution in collaboration with Poetry Society,

Hyderabad Center on 13th

PottiSriramulu Telugu University was the Chief Guest and Ms.Linda Ashok,

Founder/President, Raed Leaf Poetry India, Prof.G.K.Subbarayudu, Former

Addl.Controller of Examinations, Osmania University, was the keynote addressee. In this

connection Inter-Collegiate competitions in Essay Writing, Creative Writing, Poetry

Writing on Sarojini Naidu as a Poet and Social Reformer were conducted on 11th

February

2014. Poetry Enactment of Sarojini Naidu’s poems were presented by the students of

Vanita Maha Vidyalaya. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competitions.

On this occasion retired faculty members of the Departments of Social Sciences,

Languages and Commerce were felicitated.

Studies’, ‘Women Empowerment to Enliven the Spirits of the Young Minds and

Nurture Positive Qualities for Self Progress and Constructive Contribution to the

Society’.

23. International Womens Day: International Womens’ Day was celebrated on March 8th 2014 by

conducting a ‘Legal Awareness Camp’. Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Court, Mrs.R.Usha,

was the Chief Guest and the Key Speaker who enlightened the students and staff about the need

for legal awareness and various laws for the protection of women.
