  • Chapters 1-2 Caleb and Annas mama died the day after Caleb was born. Their mama and papa used to sing every day. Papa doesnt sing anymore. Caleb and Anna wished they had a mother.

  • Papa wrote in the newspaper asking for a wife. A woman named Sarah wrote him a letter. She lived by the sea. She wanted to be his wife and the childrens mother. Caleb and Anna wished they had a mother.
